The penultimate round of the AFLW gets underway on Friday March 10 when Fremantle take on Carlton at Subiaco and concludes when Collingwood face GWS on Sunday.
Here is our preview of all of the Round 6 action.
Friday March 10
Fremantle v Carlton Tips
Subiaco Oval (6.05pm)
Carlton face the big trek to Western Australia and will be bidding for a win to keep alive their hopes of a Grand Final berth. The Blues sit a game and percentage behind 2nd placed Adelaide and head in as favourite’s against the winless Dockers. Darcy Vescio and Emma Kearney should provide the visitors with enough firepower to notch up an important win against a Dockers outfit that haven't had much go their way this season. Dana Hooker and Lara Filocamo loom as key players for the home side in their quest to register an overdue victory.
Saturday March 11
Brisbane v Western Bulldogs Tips
South Pine Sports Complex (11.05am)
The competition's only unbeaten side, Brisbane, can guarantee themselves a Grand Final spot by knocking over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday. The Craig Starcevich-coached side kept their perfect record intact with a nail biting win against fellow contenders, Adelaide, last weekend. They enter in as favourite’s to extend their unbeaten streak to six games. The Western Bulldogs left their run a fraction too late last weekend against Carlton, missing out by a goal. However, with Ellie Blackburn and Emma Kearney in good form, the Doggies are capable of causing an upset and the Lions will need to make sure they don't let their guard down.
Adelaide v Melbourne Tips
TIO Stadium (7.10pm)
The Saturday night clash pits 2nd (Adelaide) against 4th (Melbourne) and the result will go a long way to deciding just which side will make the Grand Final a fortnight later. Adelaide will move into the box seat with a win but the Crows will need to make sure they maintain their composure when under pressure, something they were unable to do at key moments in their three point loss to the Lions last weekend. Ebony Marinoff continues to star for the Crows, while for Melbourne, Daisy Pearce is having an outstanding season. The Demons missed out in soaking conditions to G.W.S and if they drop this one they will be playing for pride next weekend.
Sunday March 12
Collingwood v GWS Giants Tips
Olympic Park Oval (11.05am)
Collingwood came away with a thrilling one-point victory over Fremantle in Round 5 but will need a miracle to sneak into the Grand Final in a fortnight. The Magpies remain a mathematical chance of making the big dance but will need other results to go their way. The Giants should be full of confidence after finally breaking through for a win last weekend. Jess Dal Pos and Emma Swanson will be looking to continue their solid form from last week, while the Magpies will need big performances from Nicola Stevens and Emma King, who has been dominant in the ruck.
