Western Bulldogs v Brisbane Lions Live Stream, Tips and Predictions - Bulldogs to cruise to comfortable win at Etihad Stadium

Adam Cusworth 20 Apr 2017
  • Brisbane have troubled the Bulldogs in the past
  • Lack of scoring options a concern for the Lions
  • Game gets underway at 1.45PM on Saturday

The Western Bulldogs and the Brisbane Lions feature in one of four games on AFL Saturday and the Round 5 encounter gets underway at 1.45PM at Etihad Stadium.

The 6th placed Bulldogs head in as heavy favourite‚Äôs but won't be taking it lightly against the Lions, who registered a win against the premiers at the venue in the recent JLT Community Series.

Fox Footy will broadcast the game, while AFL Live Vision is also available to ALL CrownBet members. Every Match, wherever you are.

Match Preview

The Western Bulldogs have been posted as $1.10 favourites in the head to head betting with CrownBet and will be hard to beat.

Luke Beveridge's side will be looking to register their fourth win of the season from five appearances and take on a Brisbane outfit that sit with a win-loss record of 1-3.

The Lions were disappointing against Richmond last weekend, going down at the GABBA by 52 points. It is hard to make a case for the Queensland side. While they look to have improved the defensive aspect of their game this year, they continue to battle up forward, where a lack of experience has counted against them.

On a bright note for Chris Fagan's side, his midfielders have been able to find plenty of the football early on in season 2017. Dayne Zorko, Dayne Beams and Mitch Robinson have shown plenty of consistency, while Tom Rockliff comes off an outstanding game.

Across the ground, however, they will be tested by a Bulldogs outfit that showed a stack of resilience in their nail-biting win over North Melbourne on Good Friday.

Marcus Bontempelli, Luke Dahlhaus and Jack Macrae continue to find plenty of the footy and unlike the Lions, the Doggies have a host of options up forward.

Team News

Travis Cloke is out for up to six weeks for the Bulldogs with broken ribs and Tom Boys will be monitored at training after suffering concussion last weekend. Caleb Daniel, Patrick Lipsinki and Lukas Webb are among those that could come in.

Brisbane will be without Tom Cutler, while Allen Christensen may line up for his first game of the season after overcoming a shoulder injury.

Stats

Brisbane have won three of their past five against the Bulldogs but were no match for them the last time the two sides met, going down by 53 points at Etihad Stadium in Round 5 last year.

On that occasion, Lachie Hunter and Jackson Macrae found plenty of the footy, while Dayne Zorko and Mitch Robinson were among the best for the Lions.
