Here are my three best bets for Pakenham:

Race 6 - 3:30PM Star News Group BM64 Handicap (1400 METRES)
On times, they won’t beat BELICHICK. He won last start in a time that Tuesday’s rivals simply can’t match, and now that he has finally broken through, I think he can go on with it. If you’d backed this horse last time I tipped him as the best of the day, you would have been worried when he was buried four back along the rail. But Damien Oliver rode for luck, got it, and the rest is history. Belichick finished extremely powerfully and was full of running through the line, and if he was out in the clear even earlier, I’m sure he could have won by more and gone even quicker. Damian Lane jumps back aboard on Tuesday, and from barrier 2 in a smaller field, Lane should have him in the perfect striking position. Looks like the best of the day.

Race 7 - 4:00PM XXXX Gold BM58 Handicap (1000 METRES)
Arguably the best named horse in Australia, MR HAMILTON is a three-year-old Nicconi gelding who is out of top sprinting mare Miss Andretti. He resumed this campaign for new trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, and he really impressed as he sat outside the leader and proved too strong in the run home to win over 1000m at Pakenham in the time of 0:58.52. That was approximately 2.5 lengths slower than Our Luca in the following event where he defeated Chavuma by 3.5 lengths – and if Our Luca was in Tuesday’s race, he’d be the $1.80 favourite. Mr Hamilton was strong through the line first-up, but that doesn’t mean he can’t improve. He’ll need to work from the wide gate to take up the running or sit outside the leader again, but with that run under his belt, he can improve and is the one to beat here.

Race 8 - 4:30PM Sportsbet Racing Form BM58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
There wasn’t a lot between Chavuma and TANTO BIANCO last start, and although Chavuma may have looked a bit unlucky, Tanto Bianco seemed to peak on his run with 100m to go, and he can atone here. While he finished 2nd at his first run this campaign and was unplaced last start (4th), the performance rated five lengths better, and he now drops 1.5kg on that run with claiming apprentice Fred Kersley going aboard. He meets Chavuma better at the weights and that galloper has drawn the outside gate and will need some luck. Tanto Bianco should get the run of the race just behind the speed, and with a bit less weight and fitness on his side, he represents great value.
