Rosehill Tips - December 9

GONGS. Just remember this name because she might be the best juvenile in the land. She is very fast so should lead and will take catching. Beat Perfect Pitch on debut, running away from that filly, by over 6 lengths, and Perfect Pitch came out and won in town last week. CHARGE was well beaten in trial. Wasn't allowed to run on. Not sure just how smart he is...but one thing is for certain, he is VERY talented. ORCEIN will be winning good races based on his tremendous debut effort when 3rd. Will be dashing home.

The win of VOLPE at Highway level in an unsuitable race last start was impressive. He strolled away. And this week's trip will suit him even more. Looks the testing material from DIVINE UNICORN who is up in grade but who showed great speed breaking 34sec last 600m when winning last start.

Good race this one. If the real MARYORE turns up she can go whoosh and race past these. But she is hit and miss. Did win the Country Champs Final this year at Randwick in a cakewalk by racing away. First up here though. NEW UNIVERSE is racing soundly and looms as the logical quinella pick.

December 2

Very interesting race. I'm going to play the weights card here. CHALK right down the bottom, and the recipient of a further 1.5kg weight relief, ran a close up 7th on Cup day in the Grey's race. That was around a BM 90 class race. Now, prior to this, Chalk beat main rivals here in King Darci and Redouble - yet meets them better at the weights. Big show.

Cracking $125,000 sprint race. Dothraki is best horse but over past 15 months he's proven to be a non-winner. So I'm going for the rising star, GLENALL. He's a last start winner, he's drawn the gun gate, with the gun hoop on board and if he wins this, he's the real deal who should progress to the very top grade. Terrific race with so many lightly weighted hopes.

Again going back to the Grey's race at Flemington for a winner here. I loved how POWERLINE attacked the line that day. He ran 3rd and looked the winner with 200m to go. Fitter now and this should suit perfectly. Gets handy weight relief and drawn perfectly.

Race 1 - 12:35pm

It's a bit early stating best 2YO in land, certainly after watching Gongs win by a minute during the week, but after what I saw at the trials, this bloke PLAGUE STONE might be an early contender. He’s a huge, long-striding dark brown son of Lonhro and he can muster great speed early, then cruise at a high velocity, before accelerating away like a star. Watch him closely.

Race 3 - 1:50pm

In this we find a bunch of rock-hard race-toughened gallopers. And an import with a scant number of races spread out over a year. His name is MORNINGTON and he just may be a future Cups horse. Will settle a fair way off these but has no weight on his back and should rattle home.

Race 5 - 3:00

I'm looking forward to this race. Highways are right up my alley as I love country horses and this bloke SCHEDULE from Mudgee, looks about the bet of the day for mine. He carried 58.5kg in what was probably the best Class 3 Highway we've seen last start and rattled home to grab 4th. That was a race record day too. He gets a welcomed 3kg weight relief here and this isn’t quite as hard. Sure to be hitting the line powerfully.

November 18

Terrific race with different form lines merging together. I loved the way former European galloper CARZOFF attacked the line to win last start. Was just 2nd start from spell, sat back and ran home hard. Does have form with more weight around Collateral, who is his obvious danger here. Just might have reached a new level.

Quite a few very fast bush horses engaged here and they should run time. But I think this mare SHE KNOWS for Danny Williams might be the play again. She won a similar Highway last start and her races have been spaced. Should be fresh and sprint boldly again here.

PICK ME UP has won 4 races, all at this trip. He's won at this track, which is where he is trained, and he is 3rd up here in a grade he should lap up. Gets a welcomed 3kg weight relief too and looks a safe, good bet.

November 11

Race 2 - 12:35pm

She's getting up in weight now, but this filly UNFORGOTTEN ran subsequent 2 times Gr 1 winner Ace High to within a length when they met at maiden level, and she herself has then gone on to win twice. Last start rattling home to beat a pair of smart Godolphin gallopers. Looks a bit too classy here.

Race 3 - 1:10pm

LYCURGUS looks the bet of the day. He is a pretty smart stayer in the making and he gets in here on the limit. Has raced well against open class stayers in recent weeks, last start in particular a great 2nd to Sin To Win who won again during the Flemington carnival. Just get on.

Race 7 - 3:50pm

STONEBROOK has started fav in all his 5 starts to date and has won 4 of them. Yet his most courageous effort was last start when beaten on the line by the very smart Passage Of Time who was placed in Open Cup grade on Thursday. Looks to lead these and just roll away in the straight. Is very hard to get past.

What Bets To Place at Rosehill Races

There are a number of ways to bet on horse racing this weekend from a standard win or place bet to quadrellas and multibets.

SINGLE: The most common bet. The single bet involves betting on your selection to win, place, or both (each-way). If betting each-way (see our guide for what an each-way bet is), the stake is doubled as you are betting on your selection to win, and also to place.

QUINELLA: A Quinella bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least three or more runners. To win a Quinella, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in any order

EXACTA: An exacta is exactly the same as a quinella. However, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in the correct order

TRIFECTA: A Trifecta bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a Trifecta, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in a given race.

FIRST4: A First4 bet is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a First4, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placegetters in a given race.

MYSTERY BET: A Mystery Bet takes the guess work out of picking a Trifecta and is generated by the betting agency’s computer. The computer system will randomly select three runners and if they fill the placings you win the Trifecta.

QUADDIE: A Quaddie bet, or Quadrella bet as it is fully known, is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race meetings. A quaddie is betting on the winners of four nominated races, which are typically the last four races of any meeting, and is a very popular bet.

MULTIBET: Multibets offer a great way to secure big winning returns on your bets as you combine various bets into one, and are proving to be an extremely popular way to bet. A multibet combines any number of bets from two to 25 into one single bet and dramatically increases the odds.

PATENT BET: A Patent bet is similar to a three-leg multibet but is made up of seven separate bets: three singles, three doubles and a trio. Where a multibet requires all selections to win for a return, a patent bet will yield a return from just one winner.

ALL-IN BETTING: All-In betting involves a bookmaker offering fixed odds on selected feature races prior to the declaration of the final field. All-In betting on the Melbourne Cup, for example, is available for the better part of 12 months leading into the event. The risk with All-In Betting is that you will not receive your stake back if your horse is scratched.
