Rosehill Gardens Tips:

July 28

Race 5 - 2:05PM ATC HONG KONG TOUR SPRINT (1100 METRES)
The return of the flying CONDOR HEROES. For some reason, here at his home track, he sprouts wings and just takes off. They want to ride him in behind the pace, but I say let him run. He is amazingly fast and is headed to Group level. Can't wait to watch him spread eagle these. I'm also watching this rising star from Canberra, Stephan. He can really hit the line hard.

Race 7 - 3:20PM WINTER CHALLENGE (1500 METRES)
I know he's old and will be about $21 but I'm backing MIGHTY LUCKY here. He was slaughtered in this grade last start over 1400m sitting 3-wide in 2nd last spot all way, leaving his run too late, then being held up in straight before dashing to finish 7th, just behind placegetters. He meets them all a little better at the weights and he is over a trip that suits more. I'm on him from the Kiwi Hiflyer.

Race 9 - 4:40PM NSW RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION TROPHY (1200 METRES)
This is an even field and the betting should reflect that, but often when that happens the top weight is overlooked in the market. And this mare UPSCALE shouldn't be. She is a bona fide contender this grade and her 2nd, coming through along the fence in worst part of the track last start, was so full of merit. Looks the one from her in form stablemate Envy Of All.

Race 5 - 1:55PM TAB REWARDS HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
They will go hard here and I think STAR OF MONSOON will sit off them and come with a charge. Every start, every campaign since he was gelded has improved him as a racehorse and he can make a mark here first up. Trial form excellent.
Result (1st - $5.50)

Race 7 - 3:10PM WINTER STAKES (1400 METRES)
This is a terrific mid-winter stakes race. So much speed and so many over BM100 runners. I'm on DREAMFORCE for the John Thompson yard. This despite the fact he's drawn the widest. He tends to get back and find cover anyway and he has a strong finishing burst. Probably sits back about 12th or so and being 3rd up, he can motor home over Testashadow. Good race.
Result (1st - $5.50)

Race 8 - 3:50PM TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
Good contest, plenty of chances, in fact the whole card on Saturday is a rip-snorter. It's hard to pass ALBUMIN down on the limit. Won his past two in grand style and although this is harder, he's been running times that can win this grade. Lofty’s Menu can bob up at huge odds and run a place too.
Result (1st - $4.40)

Race 2 - 12:05PM TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
This is a strong Class 3 Highway but I love the way it maps for GITAN. He is fresh and that makes him fast. He's up to these on his day and being just above the limit here means he is going to be on speed and in this for a very long time.
Result ($3rd)

Race 3 - 12:40PM #THERACES HANDICAP (1500 METRES)
You had to love the way CURDLED moved out widest and then came with a powerful burst in BM 81 grade last start. He wound up 2nd and gave the impression this trip would suit and that now he's 4th up, he's a big player. The 2kg weight relief helps a great deal as well.
Result (unplaced)

Race 6 - 2:25PM WINTER CUP (2400 METRES)
I'm going to have a quinella here. I'm on DESTINY'S KISS and PLYMOUTH ROAD. Both love wet tracks and it will be pretty damp under foot. The old boy Destiny's Kiss has a huge weight and spots Plymouth Road 8kg but he's tough and will grind away. Plymouth Road will lead and he is very fit. I think he can lead all way but the quinella is my play.
Result (Loss)

June 16

Race 2 - 12:00PM ASCOT RESTAURANT SALE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
Chris Waller’s Gresham is handy but gee he has a big weight here. He sits up on speed and grinds out a strong finish against his own age and despite weight, he should attempt to do that here. He has won 3 of past 4 and just keeps jumping the bar. Strong field this. Saying all that, I like the female, LISDOONVARNA, because she is just going gang busters. Has wet track form too. Gets up into the race out of trouble early and fights on. Big show.
Result (Scratched)

Race 6 - 2:25PM KENSEI HANDICAP (2000 METRES)
Newcastle’s Nurse Kitchen is a stakes horse on her day and 2 runs this time up have been more than handy. Will drop out and run home. But the play for mine is the in form HARPER’S CHOICE who put in a terrific performance this grade last start. Carrying 4.5kg more than Dagny, he was on pace all way and fought hard to end up close 2nd. Meets Dagny, a rival here again, 2kg better and that might make the difference between the pair.
Result (4th)

Race 7 - 3:05PM ROSEHILL BOWLING CLUB HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
This Chris Waller old boy INVINZABEEL had to have impressed a good few punters last start when resuming this grade. He rattled home from a mile back and was closing hard for 3rd. He was beaten half a lengths by his stablemate Sir Bacchus who really was on his game and flew late. This time he meets Sir Bacchus 1.5kg difference and he is fitter now.
Result (2nd)

What Bets To Place at Rosehill Races

There are a number of ways to bet on horse racing this weekend from a standard win or place bet to quadrellas and multibets.

SINGLE: The most common bet. The single bet involves betting on your selection to win, place, or both (each-way). If betting each-way (see our guide for what an each-way bet is), the stake is doubled as you are betting on your selection to win, and also to place.

QUINELLA: A Quinella bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least three or more runners. To win a Quinella, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in any order

EXACTA: An exacta is exactly the same as a quinella. However, you must successfully predict the 1st and 2nd placegetters in the correct order

TRIFECTA: A Trifecta bet is available on every thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a Trifecta, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in a given race.

FIRST4: A First4 bet is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race provided there are at least four or more runners. To win a First4, you must successfully predict the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placegetters in a given race.

MYSTERY BET: A Mystery Bet takes the guess work out of picking a Trifecta and is generated by the betting agency’s computer. The computer system will randomly select three runners and if they fill the placings you win the Trifecta.

QUADDIE: A Quaddie bet, or Quadrella bet as it is fully known, is available on most thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race meetings. A quaddie is betting on the winners of four nominated races, which are typically the last four races of any meeting, and is a very popular bet.

MULTIBET: Multibets offer a great way to secure big winning returns on your bets as you combine various bets into one, and are proving to be an extremely popular way to bet. A multibet combines any number of bets from two to 25 into one single bet and dramatically increases the odds.

PATENT BET: A Patent bet is similar to a three-leg multibet but is made up of seven separate bets: three singles, three doubles and a trio. Where a multibet requires all selections to win for a return, a patent bet will yield a return from just one winner.

ALL-IN BETTING: All-In betting involves a bookmaker offering fixed odds on selected feature races prior to the declaration of the final field. All-In betting on the Melbourne Cup, for example, is available for the better part of 12 months leading into the event. The risk with All-In Betting is that you will not receive your stake back if your horse is scratched.

Rosehill Race Track Description

Rosehill Racecourse consists of four long sweeping turns and horses that have drawn an inside gate are advantaged.

It is difficult to lead all the way when the rail is in the true position, but when the rail is out 4 metres or more, all runners are provided an even opportunity.
