The $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) and the appearance of Winx will be the highlight of the day, while the Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m), Australian Oaks (2400m) and Sydney Cup (3200m) showcase Sydney Group 1 racing at its best.

The Championships Day 2 Randwick Tips:

Race 1 - ADINA APARTMENT HOTELS FERNHILL HANDICAP (1600m) 11:30am

MURAAHIB is bred to excel over more ground than he’s run over yet and the step up to the mile looks perfect. He worked home well over 1400m following a 28-day break and would have been in need of the run. That will bring him on and Damien Oliver shouldn’t have too much trouble steering him home from barrier 2. TOGA PICTA was an impressive winner on debut and hasn’t been far away in two tougher assignments. He may have to go back from the tricky barrier but will be challenging hard. COULTHARD and MEDAL KUN should be thereabouts.
First 4:
1st Muraahib
2nd Toga Picta
3rd Coulthard
4th Medal Kun

Race 2 - TCL SOUTH PACIFIC CLASSIC (1400m) 12:10pm
ECHO EFFECT raced a bit keen after the freshen-up and was found wanting over the concluding stages. I think he’s a genuine Group 2 or 3 horse that will be suited by the Soft to Heavy conditions. Oliver takes the ride and could be in for an early double. PEACOCK has been disappointing this campaign but has obviously got some talent. He won his only start track and I’m banking on him bouncing back to his best over his pet trip. HUSSTERICAL didn’t quite see out the mile last time but can bounce back over the shorter trip, while TRAVANCORE could surprise at nice odds on a favourable Heavy track.
First 4:
1st Echo Effect
2nd Peacock
3rd Hussterical
4th Travancore

Race 3 - IG SHARE TRADING PERCY SYKES STAKES (1200m) 12:45pm

SERENA BAY was given an easy kill first-up this campaign and has plenty of upside. She won the Golden Gift (1100m) when second-up last time and looks to have come back much better this time. Not a lot between SHOALS, ALMANZORA and FORMALITY for the minors.
First 4:
1st Serena Bay
2nd Shoals
3rd Almanzora
4th Formality

Race 4 - THE PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL (1400m) 1:20pm

It’s hard to tip against the flying POMELO who has won her past three races by a combined margin of 11.5 lengths. She can lead all the way. With a few of the top hopes drawn extremely wide, CLEVEDON BAY gets her chance to finish hard from barrier 6. She was impressive when stepping up from 1150m to 1400m last start and that run would have her peaking to run a strong race on Saturday. BETTER NOT BLUE can improve second-up on a Heavy track, while CALABASAS just needs some luck from barrier 13.
First 4:
1st Pomelo
2nd Clevedon Bay
3rd Better Not Blue
4th Calabasas

Race 5 - ARROWFIELD 3YO SPRINT (1200m) 1:55pm

GLOBAL GLAMOUR was disappointing in the Coolmore Classic but has been freshened up and looked impressive winning a 1030m barrier trial by 3.3 lengths. She won the Group 2 Light Fingers (1200m) at Randwick last time she was given a freshen-up and I’d be expecting her to try and lead all the way from barrier 9. If SARACINO can go with Global Glamour early, that pair can fill the Quinella. TACTICAL ADVANTAGE and IMPENDING are also in with a hope for the placings.
First 4:
1st Global Glamour
2nd Saracino
3rd Tactical Advantage
4th Impending

Race 6 - JAMES BOAG'S PREMIUM AUSTRALIAN OAKS (2400m) 2:35pm

First 4:
2nd Bonneval
3rd Harlow Gold
4th Nurse Kitchen

Race 7 - LONGINES QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES (2000m) 3:15pm

First 4:
1st Winx
2nd Hartnell
3rd The United States
4th Happy Clapper

Race 8 - SCHWEPPES SYDNEY CUP (3200m) 3:55pm

First 4:
2nd Big Duke
3rd Assign
4th Vengeur Masque

Race 9 - COOLMORE LEGACY STAKES (1600m) 4:35pm

First 4:
2nd Foxplay
3rd Danish Twist
4th Heavens Above

Race 10 - TAB SAPPHIRE STAKES (1200m) 5:15pm

MISSROCK wasn’t suited on the Heavy 10 in The Galaxy and should be primed to go here on better going. She won at this track and trip at this meeting last year and can bob up at nice odds. TYCOON TARA won the Group 2 Missile Stakes on a Heavy 10 when first-up last campaign and that form stacks up well here. SECRET AGENDA and RAVI are among the other top chances.
First 4:
1st Missrock
2nd Tycoon Tara
3rd Secret Agenda
4th Ravi
