A tough but competitive night of harness racing lies ahead of us on Friday's eight-race card at Melton.

The action is highlighted by the Sals Mo v Hugo Play match race in the seventh race and I'm opting for one of the pair in my best three bets of the night.

STRAIGHT OUT
Race 7 - No 6 Hugo Play (Ladbrokes Australia)

Joins the Lance Justice stable here on the back of his excellent first 2 Victorian runs after leaving the Apple Island. The fireworks should be on throughout with Sals Mo a noted leader who loves to bowl along in front. Hugo Play will position in the 'death' here and although he'll have work extremely hard, he looks the stronger of the 2 for mine. In what should be a cracking time for the 2240metres, I'm predicting Hugo Play to be tough for these.

EACH-WAY ALL DAY
Race 1 - No 2 Shifty Shivas (Unibet Australia)

He's a 5yo gelding who's had 2 starts back from a short spell and should be cherry ripe for this C1 event. Both those runs he drew outside the front row and on both occasions was unlucky not to finish closer. Whilst I don't think he can lead, he'll position himself much closer here tonight and with the likelihood of plenty of pace in the race, he is going to be hard to hold out late at good odds.

THE ROUGHY
Race 5 - No 2 Jasmine Sheffield (Luxbet)

Extremely unlucky when blocked for runs running third in a race a little weaker than it meets tonight but that was from a bad draw. Looks like leading early here and should take it's pick of who it wants to hand the lead up to. Saved for the last sprint along the sprint lane, she's going to be hard to hold out.
