Pinjarra hosts a seven-race program on Monday and here are my best bets for the meeting.
Race 1 (12:37pm local/3:37pm AEDT) – 2YO MS PACE – 1684m
I probably won’t tip too many riskier conveyances than this one; a field of six debutants.
The only thing I have to go odd is trial form and when I say that, I mean the results and times, without any vision whatsoever which is why this is risky. I have no idea whether a horse was hard-held to the line or under the stick.
I am surprised any of these horses opened odds on as a few of them had fairly similar results. Take Sheez Impressive and Bettorgrinanbarit for example. They met in a trial with Sheez Impressive beating her rival home by 0.5m.
Based on that I don’t see why there is a huge price discrepancy so I am happy to side with Bettorgrinanbarit who will be driven by Nathan Turvey.
Diamond Dove looks to have trialled well with two victories next to her name while The War Nurse and Fight Song have also been solid in their trials.
Rated Price: $4
Race 2 (1:12pm local/4:12pm AEDT) – WESTBRED MS PACE – 2185m
Let’s take a deep breath as we step back into a race with well, race form.
Soho Changeling joins trainer Brendan Abbott and she looks hardest to beat from barrier one as she takes on Kristian Robert, Sammys Ideal and Flying Margareta.
I like Flying Margareta in this event as she should race on the back of Soho Changeling and while that horse looks a touch better, Flying Margareta has performed well in the past.
Four starts ago she led when second to Im Stylish who would prove too classy for this field and two starts back she was fourth behind Maczaffair and Sarah Goody. Both of those fillies would give this field a nice beating too.
In the runner-up performance behind Im Stylish, I should mention that Flying Margareta beat home Group 1 winner Doalittlerocknroll.
Rated Price: $3.80
Race 5 (2:56pm local/5:56pm AEDT) – MARES MS PACE – 2185m
The Shadow Knows will be keen to lead in this event and Parisian Partygirl may relinquish that position. She led two starts back at Wagin so leading isn’t out of the question.
Amounis has been racing well for trainer Brendan Abbott and follows Parisian Partygirl at the start. I’d be confident if she was leading in this field, but she will still be on the pegs which is advantageous for her and if Parisian Partygirl holds up, she may be able to swoop past her and The Shadow Knows.
That trio look the hardest to beat but Sea Me Smile races well with a sit around Pinjarra and will fly home as will Artistic Lilly at big odds.
Rated Price: $4.60
Race 7 (3:47pm local/6:47pm AEDT) – CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE – 2631m
Im Free Falling finds the right race for him to win again and he begins from 30m (which is effectively 20m in this race).
He galloped hopelessly last time when losing at least 25m. That let Gaz Wannabet grab the 1 out 1 back position with Im Free Falling behind him. C C Chevron would win the race but Im Free Falling ran past Gaz Wannabet and they have the same 10m difference in handicaps here.
With a cleaner getaway, Im Free Falling will be right in the firing line and looks the horse to beat as he has heaps of speed and the Pinjarra circuit suits.
Gaz Wannabet is going to be a huge danger once again while Hear It Now races well over course and distance and Loaded Aussie can be the big improver from the inside barrier off just a 10m mark.
I won’t be tipping Loaded Aussie but I’ll have something small on him at anything better than $7.
Rated Price: $2.50
