Happy Valley Tips - July 11

Race 6 - LET ME FIGHT HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1000M
Four starts into this preparation and HEALTHY LUCK has only had one bad run where he was first-up and over 1200m. He tried to lead all the way but tired near the line. Since then he has been in the money, winning two starts back in similar company over the shorter 1000m trip. He put more than two lengths on his rivals that day. Last start, he wasn’t disgraced when finishing third behind Cerefino over the same track and trip. He was up sharply in the weights and conceded 3kgs to the winner when beaten less than a length. He gets his chance to atone for that here. He is drawn ideally in gate four and will enjoy a sit near the lead. Vincent Ho remains aboard and hasn’t missed a top three finish on him yet. He will be there when the whips are cracking.

Race 7 - SUN JEWELLERY HANDICAP (CLASS 2) 1200M
The Michael Freedman trained FORTUNE BOOTH is in outstanding form of late and looks right in the mix here. Top three finishes at his last four starts, Freedman has the More Than Ready gelding at his peak and should be ready for a re-match with his last start rival Gunnison. Head and head, the two of them hit the line with only a nostril separating them. They both ran around in a trial at Sha Tin recently with Fortune Booth coming out the victor, beating home Gunnison by over three lengths. Zac Purton remains aboard here while it’s interesting to note that Joao Moreira (who rode Gunnison at his last start win and in his latest trial) has opted to ride another. Purton will surely find a suitable sit just behind the early pace from gate six and have the last crack at them in the run home. He looks the goods here.
