Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) favourite Houtzen has been dealt a harsh blow at the barrier draw and has come up with gate 21.
Regardless of scratchings, the daughter of I Am Invincible will jump from the outside gate in the 16-horse field as she aims to extend her unbeaten record to three.
Having led all the way on debut at Doomben, Houtzen led them up over 1100m at Gold Coast last start and kicked clear at the top of the straight to win by 4.5 lengths.
Chris Munce’s unbeaten colt, Ours To Keep, fared much better at the barrier draw and will jump from gate 4.
He was dominant when taking out the Group 3 BJ McLachlan (1200m) at Eagle Farm by nearly two lengths.
The only other two runners under double figures, Madeenaty and Invincible Star, have met with mixed results at the barrier draw, and while Madeenaty has scored the inside barrier, Invincible Star has come up with 16.
