Here is our 4-leg multibet to back on Cup Day.

Flemington Race 1 - QAFILA ($3.60)
With the scratching of the unraced Lake District Girl, this race now looks clearly a race in two between the two raced gallopers QAFILA and Setsuna. Setsuna ran a close-up second on debut in the Gimcrack at Randwick before sitting deep and being too classy for her rivals at The Valley. My small concern with her is, if you think back to this race last year, the hot favourite Madeenaty was back on the inside, but it was the outside runners that dominated, with the race won by Invincible Star. The Lindsay Park horse QAFILA draws barrier 11 and was very impressive winning on debut despite being slow away. The Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig team have had an exceptional record with their two-year-olds over the past 12 months and David Hayes said Saturday Morning that Qafila is his best for the week. That’s good enough for me and I’m happy to be her way in the first race on Cup Day.

Flemington Race 2 - INVINCIBELLA ($3.00)
The Sydney raider INVINCIBELLA travels down to Flemington for trainer Chris Waller to contest the second race on Cup Day. She won impressively first-up over 1300m at Rosehill. She was even more Impressive second-up at Randwick, defeating Lubiton and Harpers Choice despite pulling-up with a poor recovery & Thumps. The track didn’t favour her at The Valley in the, Solutions Stakes running third behind Lubiton and Savapinski as they broke the track record over the Mile. Miles Of Krishan should Improve sharply up to the 1700m and Spanner Head looks the value runner in the race. Invincibella looks to have these covered and I think we can get the cash early with her.

Flemington Race 7 - MARMELO ($8.50)
With any Melbourne Cup, there are unknowns with the International Runners we are yet to see in Australia, however on exposed form Marmelo is going to be very tough to beat. His run in the Caulfield Cup was nothing short of outstanding. Marmelo settled further back than expected in the Caulfield Cup on a day where being near the leader was imperative for victory. He weaved through the field got out at the furlong and flew late to dead heat for sixth and the clocked backed up what we saw visually. Marmelo ran the quickest last 2000m of the race and was the only horse to break 58 seconds for the last 1000m (57.87sec) and the only horse to break 34 seconds for the last 600m (34.82sec). He was roughly a length and a half quicker than his rivals over the last 200m of a brutally run Caulfield Cup (running 11.79sec). In IVR figures, he was also stronger over the final 200m (+1.5 Lengths) than from the 400m-200m (+1.2 Lengths). This clearly indicates that he’ll not only appreciate the open expanses of Flemington but also will Improve when he gets to 3200m. Marmelo is unbeaten over 3000m and beyond this year and has never missed a place in his career when racing over 3000m. I can’t see anything that raced in the Caulfield Cup beating him home on the first Tuesday in November and is the one to beat.

Flemington Race 9 - FAATINAH ($6.00)
Race 9 at Flemington is the MSS Security Sprint over 1200m up the straight. Again I see being drawn outside an advantage and the Lindsay Park runner FAATINAH looks the one. The five-year-old Gelding gets in well at the weights, only 3kg over the minimum. He finished third last start in the Caulfield Sprint in what I believe will turn out to be a very strong form reference. It was a leaders track on this day and the uber-talented Snitty Kitty was just too speedy while Super Too who finished second had all the favours up in the leader. Faatinah did well to finish third and is much better suited here. His run the start before that at Moonee Valley was outstanding despite finishing sixth. He was tightened for room around the home turn and still finished less than two lengths away from She Will Reign and Viddora. He will be riding the speed and Hugh Bowman sticks with him. I expect a big run.
