The Storm celebrate

Who will win the NRL Premiership in 2017? The Melbourne Storm lead the way in early betting odds, but are the 2016 Grand Final runners-up set to go one better this time around?

LATEST NRL PREMIERSHIP ODDS

Melbourne Storm remain favourites to seal a first premiership since 2012 following the opening round of the 2017 season.

The Storm have won the title three times in the last 10 years and been beaten Grand Finalists twice - including last year, but had their 2007 and 2009 flags taken away due to salary cap breaches.

Melbourne are the $7.00 favourites with bookmaker CrownBet to add another premiership to their honours list with Craig Bellamy's side topping the market with after an opening round victory.

Cronulla Sharks, the team who beat the Storm in last year's Grand Final, are a much bigger price to go back-to-back and are out to $17 chances after suffering an opening weekend loss.

Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos, who defeated the Sharks, were the biggest movers after Round 1 with both sides firming into $8.00 and $9.00 respectively to win the flag.

The 2015 premiers North Queensland Cowboys ($7.50) and the Canberra Raiders ($8.00) sit ahead of the Roosters and Broncos in what is a hugely competitive market.

Penrith Panthers are out to $9.00 after a surprise Round 1 defeat, while the Parramatta Eels have moved into $11 after making a winning start to their season.

St George Illawarra Dragons ($51) and Newcastle Knights ($151) are the complete roughies for the premiership.

WHERE TO BET ON NRL RUGBY LEAGUE

NRL footy is one of the most popular sports in Australia and NRL betting is available on a range of markets, including the premiership and Dally M Medal.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have noticed that with the advancements in technology and the internet, more and more tasks can be done from your home PC. Things like internet banking and personal investing are all done online and taken for granted now. The good news is, sports betting is online too. And it’s better, easier and safer than ever before.

No longer do you need to pop out during your work lunch break to visit a betting branch. The days of queuing up to place a bet on your footy team are well and truly a thing of the past. If you love your footy, you can now join sites like bet365 or CrownBet to setup an account and bet from the comfort of your own home or office. That means less time waiting and more time betting. It doesn’t get much better than that.

NRL BET TYPES

NRL betting is evolving all the time. In the past, you just selected the NRL team you thought was going to win and bet in the head-to-head market or possibly on the winning margin of each game. Now there’s a host of different bets you can place on NRL teams, players, margins, individual awards, Grand Final winner and more. You can bet on individual games, the NRL premiership, Dally M Medal and even in some novelty markets.

Fancy an NRL bet on something a little more obscure? How about betting on the first player to score a try? Or the time of the first try? Or even whether more points will be scored in the first or second half. The list goes on. There are also plenty of offers and money back specials from the bookmakers each weekend to take advantage of.

But perhaps best of all, because you’re betting online, all odds are 100 per cent up to date. That means you bet both before and during the match and be sure you’re getting the very best live odds available for all your NRL bets.
