Dragons take on the Raiders in Mudgee

Two teams coming off losses here and both will be looking to bounce back when they both travel to the NSW country town of Mudgee on Sunday afternoon.

Dragons vs Raiders kicks off at 2:00pm AEST on Sunday at Glen Willow Oval, Mudgee. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Match Preview

This is a home game for the Dragons who still lead the competition despite going down to the Rabbitohs last week. This will also be the second time this year the Dragons have run out onto Glen Willow Oval and ironically, the last time they did, they lost to the Rabbitohs in this year’s Charity Shield clash.

The Raiders have developed a habit this year of letting victory slip through their fingers. Last week they led the Sharks 16-8 well into the second half but still found a way to lose. That was the fourth game they have led in the second half but came away without competition points.

Further bad news for the green machine was news that playmaker Blake Austin will be missing for this week’s match after injuring his ankle in last week’s loss to the Sharks.

On the contrary, the Dragons have enjoyed a dream start to the season with no reported injuries to their top 17 players to date. Halfback Ben Hunt did report a corked thigh in last week’s loss to the Rabbitohs however coach Paul McGregor believes he will be fit to take the field in this match.

Ben Hunt and Jack De Belin will take niggling injuries into the game but it shouldn’t have a huge impact on their performance. The Raiders have named Blake Austin at five-eight but being he was in a moon boot earlier this week we expect Sam Williams to come in off the Reserves bench to fill in there.

The Dragons had an off-day last week, without taking anything away from an impressive South Sydney side. With Origin jerseys up for grabs, we believe the boys from Wollongong will be back to their best and in a tight one take home the points.
