The Brumbies travel across the ditch to the charming coastal town of Napier to meet the redhot defending champions the Hurricanes on Friday night.
Hurricanes veteran Brad Shields has the honour of captaining his beloved side for the first time on Friday evening due to the absence of Dane Coles to injury and TJ Perenara resting on the bench. In other changes Corey Jane returns to the wing in place of Wes Goosen. While both Blade Thompson and Vaea Fifita return from lengthy injury spells.
Just the two changes to the Brumbies side that went down to the Rebels last weekend with hooker Josh Mann-Rea returning to replace Robbie Abel and winger James Dargaville back on the left wing replacing Tom Banks.
Stat that matters
The Brumbies have won 5 of the last 6 meetings between the sides.
Scott Fardy vs Brad Shields – The two big men are both experienced campaigners and will be looking to assert their dominance at the breakdown as well as lineout time.
Despite losing to the Rebels last week in a nail biter, the Brumbies are still atop the Australian conference. They will be looking to extend their lead with the Force breathing heavily down their neck. The Hurricanes extended their winning run to 4 on the trot with a narrow win over the Blues at Eden Park to 4, they will be keen to extend the winning run as they are currently in 3rd position in the NZ conference behind the Crusaders and Chiefs
How it’s shaping
The Brumbies will be determined to bounce back and will challenge the understrength Hurricanes up front. The Wolf expects it to be a bit tighter than many experts have made it out to be, but feels the men from Wellington have too much class out wide not to come away with the 4 points.
