Sydney FC v Central Coast Mariners Prediction

Sydney FC v Central Coast Mariners Preview and Tips

Despite their being five games remaining, Sydney FC are just four points away from claiming the minor premiership following last weekend's win over Melbourne Victory in the Big Blue.

A win on Friday night could actually see them lift the Premiers Plate if Victory subsequently fail to defeat Perth Glory on Saturday night.

The Sky Blues will start as clear favourites to pick up another victory, and they should do so against a Mariners side which they have already beaten twice this season.

Sydney FC were 4-0 winners when the two sides met at Allianz Stadium in Round 2 and followed that with an entertaining 3-2 success at Central Coast Stadium in the second meeting.

The Mariners still have hopes of making the A-League finals but it is likely their points will have to come from the four games which follow the trip to Sydney on Friday.

Paul Okon's side struggle for goals and against a Sydney FC defence that has 11 goals all season, it could be a tough day at the office.

Sydney FC v Central Coast Mariners Stats

  • Sydney FC lead the head-to-head with 15 wins to the Central Coast Mariners' 10
  • The Mariners' last win came in Round 21 of the 2013/14 season
  • Sydney FC are just four points away from securing the Premiers Plate

Sydney FC v Central Coast Mariners Team News

Sydney FC looks set to be unchanged with no fresh injury problems and Seb Ryall still two or three weeks away from a return from a hamstring injury. Aaron Calver and George Blackwood are added to last week's squad.

Central Coast Mariners lose goalkeeper Paul Izzo to a one-game ban so former Sky Blues stopper Ivan Necevski will come into the side. Another ex-Sydney star Jacques Faty is back from a long lay-off while Michael Neill and young goalkeeper Adam Pearce are added to the squad.
