World Cup Group H Preview and Predictions - Essential guide to Group H

  • Wide open group when it comes to qualifying
  • Who will make it to the knockout stages?
Johan Mojica of Colombia

Group H has the look of one of the least exciting groups at the World Cup Finals, but chances can be given to all four nations when it comes to making it to the knockout stages.

On world rankings, Colombia and Poland are predicted to progress to the Round of 16 but Group H looks set to be a rollercoaster with Senegal and Japan likely to fancy their chances of progressing.

Colombia qualified in the final automatic spot in South American qualifying after finishing fourth behind Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina but many would argue that was the best that could be expected of the 2014 quarter-finalists.

Poland eased through Group E qualification in Europe, dropping just five points along the way, and they now hold their best chance of qualifying from the group stages for the first time since 1986.

Senegal won Group D of the African qualification to reach only their second World Cup Finals. Can they repeat their exploits of 2002 when they reached the quarter-finals?

Japan topped an Asian qualifying group that included the Socceroos and will be playing in their sixth successive finals and can't be discounted on that record. They've twice made it to the knockout stages in that time.

Group H Odds

Group Winner: Colombia $2.35, Poland $2.75, Senegal $5.50, Japan $8.50
To Qualify: Colombia $1.33, Poland $1.55, Senegal $2.15, Japan $3.00
