The Magic Millions (MM) 3YO Guineas (1400m) takes place at the Gold Coast Racecourse annually in January and is fast becoming one of the country’s premier three-year-old events.
The MM Yearling Sales was introduced in 1986 and Paradiddle won the inaugural MM 3YO Guineas in 2001 when the race was known as the MM 3YO Trophy.
With $1 million in prizemoney the MM 3YO Guineas attracts the country’s best juvenile sprinter/milers that have been purchase through the MM yearling Sales.
The three-year-old set-weights race takes place on MM Day and is one of eight races on the day for horses purchased at the MM Yearling Sales on the Gold Coast.
Other races on the day include the MM 2YO Classic (1200m), MM Cup (1400m), MM Sprint (1000m), MM Stayers Cup (1800m), MM Fillies and Mares Handicap (1300m), MM Maiden Plate (1200m) and the MM Class 6 Plate (1200m).
There is no definitive lead-up race to the MM 3YO Guineas but the last three winners of the race have competed in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350) and the Wyong MM 3YO Stakes (1200m).
Past winners of the MM 3YO Classic include: Ha Ha (2002), Biaggio (2003), Jamieson Valley (2004), Tappitaka (2005), Tereschenko (2006), Gold Edition (2007), Heart Of Citi (2008), Tempest Tost (2009), Graceful Anna (2010), Torio’s Quest (2011) and Punch On (2012).
