The Queensland Winter Racing Carnival takes place across the State between April and July each year and features some of the best horse racing and betting races in the calendar.
The majority of the carnival incorporates the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, where the key races include Group 1s the Stradbroke Handicap, the BTC Cup, Doomben Cup, Doomben 10,000, Queesland Oaks, Queensland Derby and the JJ Atkins.
Either side of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival there is top-class horse racing action including the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at Gold Coast and the Group 1 Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm.
The Winter Stakes, a 1400m race for fillies and mares, carries a $500,000 prize fund and is the richest race of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival outside of the race which fall under the Brisbane Racing Carnival banner. The Winter Stakes will be known as the Tattersalls Tiara in 2013.
Other notable races to be held during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival are the Group 2 Victory Stakes and the Group 3 Tattersalls Cup and WJ Healy Stakes.
