The AFL Season gets underway on Thursday March 19. Here are our three best bets for season 2020.
After a long wait, the AFL season is back this week with the traditional season opener between the reigning champions Richmond and Carlton on Thursday night, meanwhile, Adam Treloar is set to face his former side on Friday night – read on below as we preview every AFL Round 1 game, along with providing our best bets and tips.

Richmond Tigers vs Carlton Blues AFL Round 1 Tips

Richmond will be looking to start their premiership defence on the right note against rivals Carlton in the traditional AFL season opener. Whilst Carlton looks to kick off their hopeful campaign with a surprise victory over the Tigers despite history not being on their side.
Collingwood Magpies vs Western Bulldogs AFL Round 1 Tips

Both teams aiming for a finals position in 2021 battle it out on a blockbuster Friday night, in which star midfielder, Adam Treloar faces his former side after an interesting trade period – the last time the Dogs beat Collingwood was Round 1, 2017.
Melbourne Demons vs Fremantle Dockers AFL Round 1 Tips

Melbourne plays host to the Dockers at the third match in a row at the MCG, with both sides desperately craving the four points to kick start their seasons – the home side has won four of the last six matches.
Adelaide Crows vs Geelong Cats AFL Round 1 Tips

Adelaide will look to improve upon their last-placed finish last season but are set for another poor season. Meanwhile, Geelong are among the favourites to win the flag and will look to prove a point in their opening match of the season.
Essendon Bombers vs Hawthorn Hawks AFL Round 1 Tips

Both teams are set for disappointing seasons. However, both sides showed impressive signs in pre-season with Essendon taking Geelong all the way and being the best pressure side in the Marsh Cup and Hawthorn dominating the Kangaroos by 39 points showcasing some bright young talent.
Brisbane Lions vs Sydney Swans

North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide

North Melbourne could be set for a long season and it all starts on Sunday when they face last season’s heavyweights Port Adelaide, who are outsiders by many to be this season’s premiers.
GWS vs St Kilda
- Sunday March 21 | GIANTS Stadium | 3:20PM (AEDT)
Possibly one of the games of the round, sees the Giants will look to redeem themselves after a lacklustre season last year when they face the on-the-rise Saints who have high expectations.
West Coast vs Gold Coast
- Sunday March 21 | Optus Stadium | 6:10PM (AEDT)
The Eagles will look to soar once again this season and go deep into finals after finding life tough in the hubs last season. Meanwhile, Gold Coast are optimistic of good things this season and will be keen to ruin the party.
