Brisbane vs Richmond Preview and Prediction

The Lions cruised past the Blues in wet conditions. Whilst, the Tigers were thoroughly professional in their victory over the Crows.

Brisbane will have pristine conditions on Friday night, unlike when they faced the Blues to conclude their home and away season. Their strong scoring ability was on show. However, if they are to go deep in finals football, they will have to dramatically improve their accuracy in front of goal.

Daniel Rich hit some form at the right time against the Blues, finishing the match with 22 disposals, 12 intercepts, six score involvements and two goals. Lachie Neale also impressed after getting tagged against Sydney the game prior.

Itโ€™s going to be an interesting mental challenge for the Lions on Friday night, with last seasonโ€™s preliminary final fresh in their minds coupled with a yellow and black dominance in recent years. A hostile crowd will be an influence in carrying the Lions over the line in this one.

Richmond finished the year off strong against Adelaide as they storm into yet another promising finalโ€™s campaign.

The Tigers were able to control the tempo of the game against the Crows after a tough first quarter, but you can expect the Tigers to try and break away into the attack with pace against the Lions.

Four times All-Australian, Dustin Martin, was superb in the Tigers triumph over Adelaide, finishing the match with 28 disposals, six score involvements, four clearances and a goal.

Richmond will have to alter their forward dynamic slightly, with tall forward Tom Lynch unavailable for selection. Perhaps being more deliberate in their approach in the forward half by isolating Jack Riewoldt deep inside 50 would be the best option, with the Lions likely to try and outnumber his contests.

Although Richmond historically has gotten the better over the Lions, I believe the Lions could get over the line in a tight contest.

Brisbane vs Richmond Team News

Harris Andrews and Jarrod Berry are touch and go as they head into Friday nightโ€™s qualifying final.

Richmond will have Dion Prestia, Shai Bolton available for selection against the Lions, however, Tom Lynch will be unavailable for selection.

The two sides last met in Round 10 which saw Richmond defeat the Lions by 41 points.
