Port Adelaide vs Geelong Preview

The Power will be looking to continue their strong form at home this season, only losing one match against the second-placed Western Bulldogs.

It will be a big match for both sides, but a win here for the Power could see them move back into the top four and as high as third. Although a loss could see them drop to sixth.

Before the bye, Port Adelaide cruised their way to a 46-point triumph over the injury-riddled Dockers. Ken Hinkley’s side will need to improve on the middle of the ground to have any chance, averaging five fewer clearances a match than the Cats.

There will be plenty of key matchups throughout the match. However, I believe Aliir Aliir and Tom Jonas on Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron will be crucial in the result of the tie.

Meanwhile, the Cats have been in superb form before the bye, winning four of their last five matches.

Their only loss came against the Swans in Round 7, with wins coming against Richmond (63 points), St Kilda (21 points), Gold Coast (34 points) and Collingwood (10 points).

Chris Scott’s side got the job done last time out against the Magpies, but it wasn’t convincing. However, they will have a lot of stars back for this clash, with Cam Guthrie, Mitch Duncan and Patrick Dangerfield all set to return on Thursday night.

Although the Cats have won their last four matches, I can’t see the Power losing at home. However, it will be a close encounter.

Power vs Cats Team News

The Power could make one change with Ryan Burton coming back from his knee injury.

The Cats will make a few changes with Cam Guthrie, Mitch Duncan, Patrick Dangerfield and possibly Mark Blicavs all set to return to the side.

The two sides last met in the qualifying final last season which saw the Power win by 16 points.
