Gold Coast Suns vs Carlton Preview

The Suns weren’t quite able to get the job done against the Crows last week, losing the match by 10 points.

Stuart Dew will be looking to improve his team’s decision making in the forward half of the ground, only managing to go at 41% efficiency inside 50 despite lively forward Ben King kicking a career-high four goals.

The loss wasn’t the only bad thing to come from the match, with ruckman Jarrod Witts suffering a knee injury which will see him miss the rest of the 2021 season. A huge blow in the lead up to this match, with the team who wins the midfield battle the most likely winners on the day.

Meanwhile, the Blues won their first match of the season in an entertaining fashion, running away with a 45-point victory.

Blues fans were salivating at the repeat forward entries and dominant goal kicking from Harry McKay, who could’ve easily had double-figure goals for the day if he was accurate enough.

David Teague will be pleased with his side’s performance last week, but most importantly, the return to form of his co-captain and star Patrick Cripps. He finished the match with 34 disposals, 11 clearances and two goals.

It’s a hard match to predict with this match evenly poised, but I believe the Suns could claim the four points, but it won’t be easy going.

Suns vs Blues Team News

The Suns will be forced to make one change with Jarrod Witts suffering a season ending knee injury, Josh Corbett is a likely inclusion.

The Blues wouldn’t want to disrupt a winning formula. However, Mitch McGovern will most likely come into the line-up after impressing in his VFL return.

The two sides last met in round 13 last season which saw the Blues win by 33 points.
