Carlton vs Gold Coast Preview

The Blues have kept their finals hopes alive with a commanding 31-point triumph over the Saints.

Carlton returned to winning ways in an emphatic style after losing to the bottom of the ladder Kangaroos last week. It was the usual suspects providing the goods, with Sam Walsh and Harry McKay providing the spark.

Although Charlie Curnow didn’t have the best of returns, he importantly still got a goal to his name and changes the forward line dynamic, which helps free up McKay. A deadly forward duo for years to come.

The Blues are in a tough position at the moment in terms of making the top eight. They have one of the worst percentages against other finals contenders, which means they will likely have to win all of their three remaining matches, including a percentage booster, which is most likely to come this week.

Meanwhile, the Suns were dominated by the Demons in their whopping 98-point defeat last time out.

Gold Coast was defeated in almost every stat you can think of, except for one-percenters and turnovers last week. At times it was almost like a training drill for Melbourne.

The Suns have been outscored by 174 points in the previous game and a half, which has piled on the off-field pressure on coach Stuart Dew which has grown in recent weeks.

The result will all depend on how much the Blues want it. They head into this encounter in better form and with it all to play for in a must-win match, with the Power on the horizon.

Blues vs Suns Team News

Mitch McGovern looks set to come back into the side after a lengthy absence, whilst Eddie Betts is also a chance to return. Tom De Koning will miss with a chest issue.

Brandon Ellis is set to return from his hamstring injury, but there will be more changes after that performance against Melbourne.

The two sides last met in Round 4 this season, which saw the Blues win by 11 points.
