GWS Giants vs Carlton Preview
GWS cruised past the Dockers in their 38-point victory. Whilst, Carlton was unable to beat their traditional rivals, Collingwood.
The Giants desperately needed their win against the Dockers to hit some form and improve their percentage as the competition for the eight gets closer and closer.
GWS will need to limit the marking prowess of the Blues and get the ball to ground level, where they can take control.
Jake Riccardi impressed in his second game, kicking four goals, but Lachie Whitfield was arguably the best player for GWS, finishing the match with 31 disposals, nine marks, nine intercepts and four score involvements.
A dagger was put in the Blues finals chances after their four-goal loss to the Magpies.
Carlton did well to keep themselves in the game, but a lack of composure moving the ball into the forward 50 cost them in the final term.
The Blues simply have to perform better in the midfield, getting dominated by a weak Collingwood midfield, and with Josh Kelly ruled out for the Giants, it’s now or never for the Blues.
Ed Curnow was the best for the Blues, finishing the match with 22 disposals, nine tackles, six score involvements and a goal.
The Giants were impressive in their triumph over the Dockers, and I believe they can get a crucial four points against the Blues.
GWS vs Carlton Team News
Josh Kelly has been ruled out of Thursday’s night clash against the Blues with a concussion issue.
Carlton might be a couple of men down with Patrick Cripps and Jacob Weitering facing fitness tests, but on the other hand, Mitch McGovern will be available for selection.
The two sides last met last season which saw GWS demolish the Blues by 93 points.
