Richmond vs GWS Preview
The Tigers were embarrassed by a strong Cats outfit, eventually running out 63-point losers last time out.
Richmond was left stunned by premiership contenders Geelong in the second half. Damien Hardwick’s side uncharacteristically fumbled with the ball in hand, which resulted in repeat forward 50 entries. However, they will still bring the fast-paced brand of football that has brought them multiple premierships.
The Tigers have a terribly large injury list at the moment, with six first-team players on the sidelines. Including Shane Edwards, who injured his ankle against the Cats and Shai Bolton, who was involved in an off-field scuffle at a nightclub.
Meanwhile, the Giants were involved on the good side of a heart-stopping two-point triumph against Essendon.
GWS started the season poorly, but four wins in their past five matches have propelled them into finals contention. A win against this week’s opponent Richmond, can leapfrog them into the top eight.
With both sides struggling in the midfield so far this season, the winner in the clearances on the day could go a long way in coming away with the four points. Josh Kelly and Tim Taranto were exceptional against the Bombers combining for 59 disposals and three goals.
The home side has won the previous 11 meetings, and I believe this incredible trend will continue with the Tigers claiming a valuable four points in a close encounter.
Tigers vs Giants Team News
Richmond will need to make two changes with injuries to Shane Edwards and Shai Bolton. Dylan Grimes will return from concussion and Patrick Naish now has a chance to come into the side.
The Giants will also be forced to make two changes, with Lachlan Keeffe suffering a last-minute ACL injury against the Dons, whilst Jeremy Finlayson faces a one-week suspension. Jesse Hogan and Jake Riccardi are likely inclusions.
The two sides last met in Round 8 last season which saw the Giants win by 12 points.
