Hawthorn vs Brisbane Preview

Hawthorn has fallen to their fourth loss on the trot in a tough run of fixtures. Sam Mitchell’s side lost to Sydney (41 points), Melbourne (10 points), rivals Essendon (27 points) and Richmond (23 points).

That’s not to say that they haven’t given themselves good opportunities to win those matches. In fact, they have led by at least 25 points in three of those four defeats.

Although, they will regain defender Changkuoth Jiath and Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell for the weekend. However, Jack Gunston is set to miss after suffering an ankle injury against the Tigers.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Lions extended their winning run to five matches following a six-goal triumph against the Crows in a dominant second half that saw them outscore Adelaide by 39 points.

Chris Fagan’s side has been formidable in attack so far this season, despite losing numerous tall targets at stages during the season. They are the highest-scoring team in the competition and have scored 100+ points in their previous four matches.

It is set to be a cold outing in Launceston on Sunday, where the ledger between the two sides sits at two wins apiece. Although Hawthorn won the previous meeting at this stadium last season, I can’t go past the Lions winning this one.
