Chiefs vs Buccaneers Super Bowl Tips, Preview & Prediction

Anticipation is at seismic levels as Tom Brady and the Bucs attempt to dethrone reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City on February 7 – but will TB12 be able to capture a historic seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy?

Brady’s run with New England is well-documented and nothing short of legendary – he made nine trips to the Super Bowl and won six of them. Closing that chapter of his career, Brady opted to move to Tampa Bay in the off-season, and after a somewhat shaky start to life without Bill Belichick, the 43-year-old QB found his groove and led the Bucs to just their second ever Super Bowl and first since 2002.

Incredibly, Brady is still notching up ‘firsts’ in his illustrious career, securing his maiden NFC Championship as Tampa Bay edged out Green Bay Packers 31-26 to book their ticket into the Super Bowl. Brady is etched in NFL folklore, but can he add more silverware in his 10th visit to the Super Bowl?

We think he’ll fall just short – because this Kansas City Chiefs side is capable of starting a dynasty quite similar to what Brady and the Patriots achieved. Mahomes is poised to replace Brady as the fresh quarterback GOAT over the next decade or so and if continues to operate the level he has been all season, we can’t see the Chiefs losing this one.

The 38-24 scoreline of the Chiefs’ win over the Bills in the AFC Championship game doesn’t give a true reflection of just how dominant they were. The defending Super Bowl winners gave Buffalo a nine-point head start before posting 21 unanswered points during a 10-minute period in the second quarter to seize control of the game – and from there, it was smooth sailing as Mahomes picked the Bills apart through the air with the assistance of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, while on the opposite side of the football, the Chiefs were superb in slowing down the Bills’ offence.

It was a much more commanding and complete performance than the Bucs’ win over the Patriots. Winning at Green Bay is certainly no easy feat, but Tampa’s success was mostly due to a defence that forced a few turnovers and did a fantastic job of cancelling out the impact of the three picks that Brady threw on consecutive drives.

Mahomes came out on top when the Chiefs and Bucs met in their only previous clash earlier in the season, completing 37 of his 49 pass attempts for 462 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, while also adding 28 yards on the ground. He outplayed Brady and picked apart the Bucs’ defence as the Chiefs emerged victorious by a 27-24 scoreline.

We expect a similar score to play out in the Super Bowl – but with more points. Brady & Co. will aim to keep pace with Mahomes and the star-studded Chiefs offence, and while they might be able to do that for a period of time, the KC defence will make some key stops and force some turnovers to propel Andy Reid’s troops to back-to-back Super Bowls.
