Key Points

  • Denmark have won four of their five previous games against Austria
  • Denmark beat Austria 1-0 back in October 2021
  • Denmark have won eight of their last 10 games
  • Austria have won just four of their last nine games
  • Austria have just one win in the last four years vs top 20 ranked nations
  • Denmark have won four of their last six away games in the Nations League
  • Denmark have scored 64 goals in their last 27 fixtures

We target our sixth #BOTD win on the trot when we head to the UEFA Nations League as Denmark look to continue their outstanding run of form away to Austria.

Denmark have been excellent since going down to England in the Euro 2020 semi-finals, winning eight of their last 10 games – including a brilliant come-from-behind 2-1 victory over defending World and Nations League champions France a few days ago.

Kasper Hjulmand’s team also have a very strong record in the Nations League, winning four of their last six away games – including conquering England at Wembley, so a trip to Vienna won’t faze them.

The Danes have been banging in goals for fun, netting 64 times in their last 27 internationals for an average of 2.37 per game, while they have also found the back of the net at least once in 11 of their last 12 away outings dating back to 2019.

Backing Denmark and over 2.5 goals is tempting as a result, but we think we get enough value in simply backing them home outright at $2.65 with Unibet.

Austria are coming off a shock 3-0 win over Croatia in their opening match of the Nations League, but their form before that wasn’t too flash, winning just three of their last eight games.

Ralf Rangnick’s side had struggled immensely against top 20 nations in recent times before toppling Croatia, which was their first victory over a team ranked in the top 20 in four years. Backing that feat up a few days later against the high-flying Danes will be a tall order.

Denmark also have fond recent memories of facing Austria, defeating them 1-0 back in October. Denmark have won four of their five previous meetings with Austria in all competitions.

Austria will be confident after their win over Croatia, but we are going to need to see a more sustained run of form against quality opposition. Denmark have runs on the board and are great value to pick up a ninth win from their last 11 games.
