Bet Of The Day July 7

Andrew Hendrie:
Bet Of The Day July 7

The Wimbledon semi-final between Simona Halep and Elena Rybakina features as’s best bet for Thursday July 7.

Bet Of The Day July 7 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Halep has won the last two meetings between the pair
  • Halep has won her last 12 straight matches at Wimbledon
  • Ten of Halep’s last 11 wins have been in straight sets
  • Halep has won all of her Wimbledon matches this tournament in straight sets
  • Rybakina is 0-2 in grass court semi-finals
  • Rybakina had failed to win more than two matches in 12 of her 14 events this season before Wimbledon

We’re off to Wimbledon again for today’s best bet as Simona Halep and Elena Rybakina clash for a spot in the final.

Our last four ‘Bets Of The Day’ have landed, including backing Halep to beat Amanda Anisimova in straight sets yesterday.

The result was ultimately never in doubt, with Halep cruising to a 6-2 6-4 victory to register her third straight sets win in a row over Anisimova to return to the Wimbledon semi-finals.

Halep has now won 12 consecutive matches at Wimbledon dating back to her 2019 triumph. The former World No. 1 was denied the chance to defend her title in 2020 and missed last year’s tournament with a calf injury.

Struggling with various injury issues over the last 12 months, Halep is finally back to her best tennis and as the only former major champion left in the draw, is favourite for the title. In fact, the other three players left in the draw are first-time Grand Slam semi-finalists.

We’re going to double down and back Halep to emerge triumphant in straight sets again here.

In many ways, this is a similar match-up to the Anisimova encounter. Halep’s terrific blend of counter-punching aggression and magnificent defence has the ability to drive the hard-hitting Rybakina mad.

Rybakina has tremendous firepower, but she is going to need to work twice as hard to win points against Halep and she could get frustrated when balls that would be winners against most players come back with interest.

Rybakina’s footwork is also suspect, so expect Halep to exploit that area of her game. The Kazakh’s serve has the ability to keep her in the contest, but Halep has an excellent return and if she can break early, the writing could be on the wall.

Halep has won the last two meetings between the pair and in her current form, which has seen her win 10 of her last 11 matches in straight sets, the Romanian can prevail again to return to the Wimbledon final.
