We’re off to the US Open for today’s best bet as Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova square off for a spot in the women’s singles final.

Going for our fourth BOTD win on the trot this week and we think we’ve found some great value for Gauff to prevail in three sets here.

Gauff has been threatening to breakthrough for a maiden major title since she first shot onto the scene at 15 years of age at Wimbledon.

The American, now 19, has experience of reaching a Grand Slam final after doing so at Roland Garros last year, while she’s currently in the form of her life right now.

Since linking up with one of the sharpest tennis minds in tennis (Brad Gilbert), Gauff has been on fire and comes into this clash on a 15-match winning streak on American soil, picking up big titles in Washington and Cincinnati.

However, while I’m confident Gauff can make it 16 and advance into the final, this match won’t be easy.

Gauff has dropped a set in three of her five matches so far against Siegemund, Mertens and Wozniacki, but more importantly, Muchova is in stunning form herself.

One of the most underrated players on tour (not anymore), Muchova has now established herself as a top 10 player with 28 hardcourt wins to her name in 2023.

Muchova was on fire in a crushing 6-3 6-0 demolition of Cirstea in the quarter-finals and will now contest her third major semi-final.

Crucially, both of her previous semi-finals went the distance in absolute thrillers, with Muchova losing 6-4 3-6 6-4 to Brady at the 2021 Australian Open before edging Sabalenka 7-6 6-7 7-5 at Roland Garros earlier this season.

Gauff beat Muchova in straight sets in the Cincinnati final a few weeks ago, but the Czech was fatigued from winning four three-set matches against Haddad Maia, Martic, Sakkara and Sabalenka beforehand.

Point is, Muchova loves a scrap and has been involved in lots of three-setters in big matches lately, while Gauff has also played more three-setters than two-setters this tournament.

Gauff has the edge, both from H2H and a home crowd advantage standpoint, so backing the American teenager to edge this in three to make a first US Open final.
