Bet Of The Day June 8

Andrew Hendrie:
Bet Of The Day June 8

The State of Origin Game 1 match between New South Wales and Queensland features as’s best bet for Wednesday June 8.

Bet Of The Day June 8 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • NSW have defeated Queensland in their last three games at Accor Stadium
  • NSW haven’t lost at Accor Stadium since 2017
  • NSW’s last 10 victories over Queensland have all covered the -3.5 line
  • NSW won Game 1 last year by a 50-6 score

We’re off to the State of Origin for today’s best bet as New South Wales and Queensland renew their bitter rivalry at Accor Stadium.

NSW have won three of the last four series and will be looking to continue their recent success after Queensland’s legendary dynasty from the previous decade.

It comes as no surprise that the Maroons have struggled since the retirements of iconic stars Johnathan Thurston, Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater and Greg Inglis.

However, in saying that, this is probably the strongest team Queensland have fielded on paper since 2017 – but we’re still backing the Blues to edge Game 1 at home.

Brad Fittler’s side are aiming to create their own dynasty, led by Panthers stars Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai in the halves.

If this game was at Suncorp, I’d be tempted to back the Maroons, but in Sydney the Blues have the advantage.

Indeed, NSW have won the last three meetings at Accor Stadium and haven’t been defeated at the venue since 2017.

As a result, we can get solid odds for a NSW victory if we back them to cover the -3.5 line with Ladbrokes, who are offering $2.00.

NSW’s last 10 wins over Queensland have covered the -3.5 line, so history is in our favour if the Blues are indeed to win. A simple one-try margin will be enough for this bet to land.

We should be able to get off to a good start as well, with NSW winning the first half in the last five Origin encounters.

We’re fully expecting a tight encounter, but as mentioned, NSW have the edge in Sydney and they should be classy enough to take a 1-0 series lead.
