Bet Of The Day September 8

The NRL Finals Week 1 match between the Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Friday September 8.

Bet Of The Day September 8 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Storm have won the last 14 meetings between the teams
  • Storm have won 24 of the last 26 encounters
  • Storm haven’t lost to Broncos at Suncorp since 2009
  • Broncos have lost five of their last six finals games
  • Broncos are playing their first finals game since 2018

We’re off to the NRL for today’s best bet as the Broncos and Storm collide at Suncorp with a spot in the preliminary finals on the line.

Two of the leading favourites for the premiership behind the Panthers, these two teams are set for a thrilling showdown tonight.

However, while the Broncos finished above the Storm on the ladder, the value is definitely with Melbourne.

The H2H dominance by the Storm over the Broncos is well-known at this point – Melbourne have won the last 14 meetings between the teams and 24 of the last 26 overall.

It doesn’t get much more convincing than that. Craig Bellamy will never let the 2006 Grand Final defeat go. Even when the two clubs fielded their reserve teams last week, the Storm found a win to win.

Furthermore, the Storm haven’t lost to the Broncos at Suncorp since way back in 2009. That’s 14 years ago! There’ll be thousands of spectators at this ground that weren’t even born the last time Brisbane beat Melbourne at this venue.

Brisbane have all the pressure on them too – they’ve lost five of their last six finals games and haven’t featured in finals footy since 2018.

On the other hand, the Storm have played finals football basically every year since they entered the competition and there’s no one more experienced than Bellamy.

Ryan Papenhuyzen is back and ready to be unleashed off the bench. With Pap returning, the Storm arguably have the strongest spine in the competition.

It promises to be a cracking contest, but the Storm have had the wood over the Broncos for over a decade now and are fielding one of their strongest teams of the season. Simply have to back them as underdogs.
