We’re off to the Shanghai Masters for today’s best bet as Ugo Humbert looks to register the upset over an out-of-form Stefano’s Tsitsipas in the third round.

Tsitsipas has been well below his best for the majority of the season and hasn’t won consecutive matches since August 6. That’s over two months with the World No. 6 failing to win back-to-back matches.

During this period, Tsitsipas has lost to the likes of Dominic Stricker, Alex Molcan, Nicolas Jarry and 36-year-old Gael Monfils.

Interestingly, two of those players are left-handers (Molcan & Stricker), so Humbert has the ability to add his name to this list.

Humbert is a far superior player to those other left-handers in any case and the Frenchman has slowly returned to some of his best form this season, rebuilding his ranking back up to a current mark of No. 34.

Humbert reached the quarter-finals in Beijing last week, claiming a top 10 scalp over Andrey Rublev before falling to Daniil Medvedev in three.

For someone who has never made the top 10, Humbert actually has a very solid record against the game’s elite, going 8-9 against top 10 players in his career.

Two of those victories have come against Tsitsipas, with Humbert holding a 2-1 H2H record over the Greek, beating him in Paris and the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Those matches also came at a time when Tsitsipas was playing much better than his current level now.

Overall, Humbert has a winning record in this match-up and is in great form heading into this encounter – he’s great odds as the underdog against a vulnerable Tsitsipas.
