Bet Of The Day August 10

The ATP Toronto R16 match between Casper Ruud and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Thursday August 10.

Bet Of The Day August 10 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Davidovich Fokina has won six of his last nine hardcourt matches
  • Davidovich Fokina has dropped just two games in two matches in Toronto this week
  • Davidovich Fokina has beaten Wolf 6-2 6-0 & Zverev 6-1 6-2 this week
  • Davidovich Fokina beat Ruud in their only previous meeting
  • Ruud hasn’t won back-to-back matches on hardcourt all year
  • Ruud hasn’t beaten a player ranked in the top 35 on hardcourt in 2023

We’re off to ATP Toronto for today’s best bet as Alejandro Davidovich Fokina targets another top 10 scalp when he faces Casper Ruud for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Davidovich Fokina runs hot and cold, but when he’s on, the Spaniard has the game to beat anyone.

The 24-year-old owns wins over the likes of Novak Djokovic, Matteo Berrettini, Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz over the course of his career, while he also took the scalp of Ruud at the French Open two years ago.

On hardcourt, Davidovich Fokina should have an edge too, with Ruud obviously preferring the dirt.

Davidovich Fokina is in blistering form in Toronto at the moment, surging into the R16 for the loss of just five games combined.

Indeed, Davidovich Fokina crushed JJ Wolf 6-2 6-0 before producing some thunderous tennis to take out Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-2.

Davidovich Fokina struck 15 winners to just two unforced errors throughout the contest. The Spaniard is virtually unstoppable when he produces those sorts of numbers.

Ruud meanwhile remains vulnerable on hardcourt. The Norwegian hasn’t played well on the surface all year – in fact, he hasn’t won back-to-back matches on hardcourt in 2023.

Ruud didn’t even enjoy his usual post-Wimbledon success on clay, losing to Andrey Rublev in Bastad and teenager Arthur Fils in Hamburg.

The World No. 5 wasn’t impressive in his Toronto opener either, scraping past the out-of-form Jiri Lehecka 7-6 6-4 after saving two set points in the tiebreak.

Davidovich Fokina is in top form right now and beaten Ruud before on clay – if he maintains his current level, he should absolutely prevail again and reach the last eight.
