The Wimbledon quarter-final match between Daniil Medvedev and Christopher Eubanks features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Wednesday July 12.
Bet Of The Day July 12 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.
Key Points
- Medvedev has dropped just one set in four Wimbledon matches
- Medvedev beat Eubanks in straight sets in Miami earlier this year
- Eubanks playing in a first major quarter-final
- Medvedev has won 13 of his last 16 quarter-finals (5-1 in slams)
- Eubanks could be fatiguing, coming from Mallorca title two weeks ago with barely any rest
- Eubanks coming off biggest career moment, letdown usually follows
We’re off to Wimbledon for today’s best bet as Daniil Medvedev targets a first ever Wimbledon semi-final when he meets the unseeded Chris Eubanks.
Medvedev is through to his first major quarter-final since the 2022 Australian Open and he’s got a great chance at the final four here.
The World No. 3 has dropped just one set en route to the last eight and will be fresh as a daisy, with his fourth round opponent Jiri Lehecka retiring after two sets.
By contrast, Eubanks has dropped a set in three of his four matches, with the only excepting being three tiebreaks against Chris O’Connell, while he went five sets with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the previous round.
Eubanks has spent a lot of physical energy over the last couple of weeks after also winning the Mallorca title days before Wimbledon began.
However, the big-serving American could be feeling mentally drained in this clash – Eubanks registered by far the biggest win of his career against Tsitsipas, earning a first top 10 scalp and reaching a maiden slam quarter-final.
All too often you see players suffer a big letdown in the following match and Medvedev is one of the last players you want to face when feeling a bit flat.
Tsitsipas really should have put Eubanks away in straight sets – he had several break points in the second set, but just couldn’t close it out. All up, the Greek had 13 break points throughout the contest.
Medvedev is a far better returner and also won’t give up as many cheap points, meaning Eubanks will have to work harder to win rallies.
Medvedev won their only previous encounter 6-3 7-5 in Miami earlier this year and I’m backing the Russian in for another straight sets victory to make the semi-finals.
