Bet Of The Day June 20

The ATP Eastbourne first round match between Reilly Opelka and Maxime Cressy features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Monday June 20.

Bet Of The Day June 20 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Cressy beat Opelka in their only previous clash in Melbourne earlier this year
  • Cressy won that encounter 4-6 7-6 7-6
  • Opelka is on a four-match losing streak on grass
  • Opelka has never won a regular ATP match on grass in Europe in his entire career
  • Cressy took a set off eventual champion Hurkacz in Halle last week

We’re off to ATP Eastbourne for today’s best bet as giant American players Reilly Opelka and Maxime Cressy square off for a place in the second round.

There’s a lot of potential value on offer for this clash, with Opelka and Cressy equipped with two of the biggest serves in tennis.

Pair that with grass, and we won’t be seeing many rallies and tiebreaks could well be the order of the day.

Lets take a look at the only previous meeting between the pair from Melbourne earlier this year – Cressy prevailed in the second round and recovered from dropping the opening set, winning 4-6 7-6(5) 7-6(9).

A similar sort of contest should play out on the slick lawns of Eastbourne – and Cressy is good value as the underdog.

In addition to winning their only previous meeting, Cressy has also been in better form on grass, qualifying for the ATP 500 event in Halle last week and managing to take a set off eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz in the opening round.

Meanwhile, Opelka’s only match on grass came last week at Queens when he was outplayed in straight sets by Alex de Minaur.

Opelka has a poor record on grass and has lost his last four matches on the surface dating back to 2019. In fact, Opelka has never won a regular ATP match at tour-level on grass in Europe in his entire career.

It’s clear the big man finds it difficult to deal with the low skidding balls.

We could simply back Cressy as the underdog at $2.10, but after landing Hurkacz to upset Medvedev at $3.00 in yesterday’s Bet Of The Day, we’re going bigger.

We’re also backing over 1.5 tiebreaks, which of course landed in the pair’s only previous meeting earlier this year on the hardcourts of Melbourne. On grass, there’s an even greater chance of seeing two tiebreaks and that bet can also be successful if Cressy manages to win in straight sets.
