Bet Of The Day May 29

Andrew Hendrie:
Bet Of The Day May 29

The NRL Round 12 match between the Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons features as’s best bet for Sunday May 29.

Bet Of The Day May 29 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Bulldogs have defeated the Dragons at least once in nine of the last 10 seasons
  • Bulldogs beat Dragons 28-6 in their last meeting
  • Bulldogs have seen under 38.5 points in three of their last four games
  • Dragons have seen under 38.5 points in five of their last seven games

We’re off to the NRL for today’s best bet as the Canterbury Bulldogs play host to the St George Illawarra Dragons at Belmore.

After our last two NRL ‘bets of the day’ landed, we’re targeting a big upset with today’s selection and backing the Bulldogs to emerge victorious.

Canterbury have been a basket-case club for years now, but we get the feeling they are going to be up for this game.

Former premiership-winning player Mick Potter has taken over as interim coach and his side immediately scored their most points for the season with 22 in the loss to the Tigers last week.

Potter knows the ’Dogs of War’ mentality and he will drill in the pride of the jersey upon the Bulldogs’ return to their spiritual home of Belmore today.

The Dogs also have a great recent record against the Dragons, which should give them more confidence heading into this showdown.

Indeed, the Bulldogs have defeated the Dragons at least once in nine of the last 10 seasons, so the odds suggest they’re on track here.

Canterbury won the last meeting between the teams 28-6 in 2021 and it’s not as if the Dragons are exactly reliable or a top team themselves, with three of their last four wins coming against the lowly Knights, Tigers and Warriors.

The Bulldogs might not get a better chance to win all season – returning to their traditional home of Belmore on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a former premiership-winning player barking orders from the sideline and playing against another bottom-half team who they have beaten in nine of the last 10 seasons.

We’ll take the punt on the Dogs and also back the ‘Under’ while we’re at it. Canterbury still struggle to score points, so if they do win, it will be on the back of some strong defence.
