Bet Of The Day June 29

The Wimbledon second round match between Andy Murray and John Isner features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Wednesday June 29.

Bet Of The Day June 29 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Murray has won all eight of his previous matches against Isner
  • Murray has won eight of his 10 matches on grass this season
  • Murray is a perfect 13-0 in Wimbledon second round matches
  • Murray hasn’t won a Grand Slam match in straight sets since 2017
  • Isner has won at least one set in seven of his last eight matches

We’re off to Wimbledon for today’s best bet as Andy Murray targets a spot in the third round against the big-serving John Isner.

Murray has absolutely dominated Isner throughout their careers and brings a perfect 8-0 record into this encounter. The former World No. 1 has always feasted on big servers and he should relish this match-up as he attempts to generate some momentum at his home slam.

However, while Murray should be winning this, we’re also expecting Isner to snatch a set.

Murray hasn’t won a Grand Slam match in straight sets since 2017 and his struggles with James Duckworth in the opening round were apparent.

If Murray couldn’t beat a player who hasn’t won a match since November 2021 in straight sets, then he will likely have some trouble with Isner – someone who can repeatedly serve his way out of trouble.

Isner of course has many memorable Wimbledon moments – that famous 70-68 final set win over Nicolas Mahut all the way back in 2010, along with reaching the semi-finals in 2018.

However, he didn’t play a lead-in tournament on grass and almost crashed out in the opening round to Enzo Couacaud, surviving the inexperienced Frenchman in five sets.

Murray is 8-2 on grass this season and has never lost in the second round of Wimbledon, so back the Scot to get the job done here, with Isner serving his way to at least one set.
