The UEFA Champions League semi-final between PSG and Manchester City features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Wednesday April 28.
Bet Of The Day April 28 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.
We’re off to the Champions League for today’s best bet as French heavyweights PSG play host to English juggernauts Manchester City.
This should be a tightly contested tie and I think it’s 50-50 going into the first leg. Which means I will be siding with PSG – they are $3.20 underdogs and playing at home. That’s superb value in my eyes.
PSG have won their last four domestic matches in France and won them well with scores of 4-1, 3-2, 5-0 and 3-1.
They have the individual brilliance of Mbappe and Neymar that can break the game open at any time and that could prove the difference between the sides in a semi-final such as this.
Neymar has been directly involved in four goals across his previous three Champions League semi-final appearances and will surely lift again here.
PSG also passed a sterner test in the quarter-finals, overcoming reigning champions Bayern Munich, while Manchester City struggled to make it past an out-of-form Dortmund side.
Additionally, City have slowed down a bit over the last month. They’ve lost to Leeds in the Premier League and went down to Chelsea in the FA Cup final. City also struggled to beat Aston Villa before edging Tottenham in the EFL Cup final on the weekend.
City have only ever been to one Champions League semi-final before and the pressure is firmly on the club to reach their first final. Guardiola continues to line up his side with a ‘false 9’ and that could come back to bite them against a PSG side burning with talent.
As mentioned, this is a 50-50 match-up for me, so backing the in-form home side with Mbappe and Neymar at $3.20 is great value.
- PSG have won their last four domestic matches
- PSG have scored at least three goals in all of those wins
- Man City haven’t drawn in their last 33 competitive matches
- City have lost two of their last five matches
