Bet Of The Day August 3

The ATP Washington second round match between Denis Shapovalov and JJ Wolf features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Wednesday August 3.

Bet Of The Day August 3 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Shapovalov has won 12 of his last 18 hardcourt matches
  • Shapovalov has lost just three matches to players ranked No. 99 or lower over the last two seasons
  • Wolf has never won back-to-back matches on the ATP Tour
  • Wolf only has one top 25 victory in his career
  • Wolf retired in Atlanta qualifying last week

We’re off to ATP Washington for today’s best bet as Denis Shapovalov looks to get his campaign off to a winning start against World No. 99 JJ Wolf.

Shapovalov, ranked No. 22 in the world, has been struggling as of late on the clay and grass, but a return to North American hardcourt should propel the Canadian back to his best form.

He’s got a very favourable opener in Washington against Wolf, who has only won seven tour-level matches in his career.

Wolf has also only defeated one top 25 player throughout his career and that was an out-of-form Lorenzo Sonego in Acapulco back in February.

Shapovalov had a solid start to the season on hardcourt, winning 12 of his last 18 matches on the surface, including reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals, where he pushed Rafael Nadal to five sets.

The Canadian rarely loses to lower-ranked players as well, with Shapovalov suffering just three defeats over the last two seasons against players ranked No. 99 or lower.

Furthermore, Wolf has never won back-to-back matches on the ATP Tour in his career and retired in Atlanta qualifying last week against Donald Young.

As mentioned, Shapovalov hasn’t been close to his best lately, but this represents a great chance for him to turn things around and we’re backing him home for a fairly comfortable victory in Washington.
