Bet Of The Day July 17

The NRL Round 18 match between the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Sunday July 17.

Bet Of The Day July 17 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

Key Points

  • Storm have won the last five meetings between the teams
  • Storm have won their last 10 games at AAMI Park following a loss
  • Raiders have lost their last two away games
  • Storm have seen over 36.5 points in 13 of their last 15 games
  • Raiders have seen over 36.5 points in six of their last seven games
  • Four of the last five meetings between the teams have seen over 36.5 points
  • Storm’s last nine wins have covered the -5.5 handicap

We’re off to the NRL for today’s best bet when the Storm look to get back to winning ways against the Raiders at AAMI Park.

Melbourne haven’t been at their best for the last couple of months and are coming off back-to-back defeats against the Sharks and Sea Eagles, conceding 64 points in the process. It’s the first time they’ve leaked six tries or more in consecutive matches since 2006.

As such, Craig Bellamy will be demanding a response from his side, especially at home at AAMI Park in front of their loyal fans.

More importantly though, the Storm have some big guns back on deck. Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Felise Kaufusi all return for this encounter, while Ryan Papenhuyzen has got more match fitness under his belt.

The spine of Papenhyuzen, Munster, Jahrome Hughes and Grant haven’t played together for a while now, so expect Melbourne to be a lot more polished today.

Canberra have also suffered a big blow for this showdown, losing Nick Cotric and Elliot Whitehead.

With all of the above in mind, we’re confident Melbourne can jet the job done today – and we’re adding in a small handicap and total points to get us some value.

The Storm’s last nine wins have been by six points or more, so they shouldn’t have any trouble prevailing by a converted try’s margin.

Additionally, the Storm have seen over 36.5 points in 13 of their last 15 games, while the Raiders have seen over 36.5 points in six of their last seven. Four of the last five meetings have also produced over 36.5 points.

With Melbourne winning the last five games between the teams, all signs point to another victory for the men in purple on Sunday.
