Bet Of The Day March 12

Andrew Hendrie:
Bet Of The Day March 12

The NRL Round 1 match between the Newcastle Knights and Canterbury Bulldogs features as’s best bet for Friday March 12.

Bet Of The Day March 12 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

  • Four of our last six Bet Of The Day’s have been successful.

March 4: Everton to win vs West Brom @ $1.86 ✅
March 5: Adelaide United to win vs Newcastle Jets @ $2.87 ✅
March 7: Andrey Rublev to win 2-0 vs Marton Fucsovics @ $1.61 ✅
March 8: Chelsea to win to nil vs Everton @ $2.37 ✅
March 10: Barnsley to win vs Derby @ $1.90 ❌ (Draw)
March 11: Man United to win vs AC Milan @ $1.61 ❌ (lost in injury time)

After an agonising loss on Thursday when AC Milan equalised in injury time against Manchester United, we’re heading home to the NRL for today’s best bet as the Canterbury Bulldogs target an upset over the Newcastle Knights.

There’s plenty of reason to believe the Dogs can jet the job done here and provide the first shock of the 2021 NRL season.

Firstly, the Bulldogs have won eight of the last nine games between the teams. Even with Canterbury languishing near the bottom of the ladder over the last few years, they have still been accounting for the Knights.

Secondly, the Bulldogs are a much stronger team than last season. Trent Barrett is the new coach and the man pulling the strings with Nathan Cleary and Jerome Luai last season in guiding the Panthers to the Grand Final.

The Dogs have also been crying out for a halfback for what seems like an eternity and they’ve finally landed a genuine No. 7 in Kyle Flanagan. Throw in Origin players like Corey Allan and Nick Cotric in the backline and the Bulldogs are all of a sudden looking like a team that could challenge for the top eight.

Newcastle meanwhile have endured a torrid off-season with all the controversy surrounding Mitchell Pearce and are missing several key players for this clash, including star man Kalyn Ponga.

All the ingredients are there for a classic Dogs of War ambush and I think we’ve got some great value here for Canterbury to grab a first up win.

Key Points

  • The Bulldogs have won eight of the last nine matches between the teams
  • Canterbury have covered the line in their last five away games against the Knights
  • Newcastle are missing Kalyn Ponga, Edrick Lee, Blake Green and Lachlan Fitzgibbon for this game
