Bet Of The Day March 17

Bet Of The Day March 17

The NRL Round 2 match between the Melbourne Storm and South Sydney Rabbitohs features as’s best bet for Thursday March 17.

Bet Of The Day March 17 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

We’re off to the NRL for today’s best bet as the Melbourne Storm look to continue their home dominance over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at AAMI Park.

In one of the most intimidating records in NRL history, the Storm have never lost a match in Melbourne to Souths. Indeed, the Storm hold an incredible 17-0 record over the Rabbitohs on their home turf.

For whatever reason, the Rabbitohs just can’t seem to find the answer when they make the trip down south.

Souths don’t look like turning things around in 2022 if their opening round performance is anything to go by either.

The Bunnies looked lost in attack without Adam Reynolds steering the ship and managed only four points against a Brisbane Broncos side who almost finished last in 2021. The Broncos didn’t even have Reynolds themselves.

Jason Demetriou is already under some pressure as he replaces Wayne Bennett in the hot seat and there isn’t any tougher assignment than Melbourne away where Souths are concerned.

The Storm suffered some big injury blows in their opening round win over the Tigers, with Christian Welch and George Jennings likely sidelined for the season, while Brandon Smith broke his hand.

However, such is the immense depth of the Storm, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Jesse Bromwich all return this week.

With those inclusions, we’re confident in backing Melbourne home with a -7.5 handicap. The Storm crushed Souths 50-0 in their last meeting and have literally never lost this H2H at home.

The Rabbitohs have failed to score more than 12 points in their last four games, so the Storm should be winning this one comfortably.

Key Points

  • Storm are 17-0 vs Rabbitohs at home
  • Storm won their last meeting 50-0
  • Rabbitohs lost 11-4 to Broncos in R1
  • Rabbitohs have failed to score more than 12 points in their last four games (including trials)
  • Storm won all of their home games last season by an average of 21 points
