TODAY'S BEST BET | FEBRUARY 10
We’re off to the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires for today’s best bet as experienced clay courters Pablo Andujar and Federico Delbonis square off for a place in the quarter-finals.
The bookies have this match as an even $1.90 split, but we think Andujar is the clear favourite in this match-up – based on past H2H history and current form.
Andujar has been playing some fantastic tennis in the twilight of his career after various surgeries on his elbow and has started 2022 in solid fashion.
The Spaniard reached the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career with wins over Damir Dzumhur and Alex Molcan before going down to Alex de Minaur.
Andujar already has experience of knocking out an Argentine in Buenos Aires after he cruised past Juan Ignacio Londero 6-2 6-4 in his opening round clash earlier in the week.
By contrast, Delbonis was on a four-match losing streak before getting a win over the retiring Juan Martin del Potro in his opening round.
In fact, Delbonis hasn’t defeated a top 100 player since Benoit Paire in Hamburg all the way back in July last year.
Delbonis has lost his last 15 consecutive matches against players in the top 100 and there’s little reason to believe he will turn things around here.
Andujar leads their H2H 7-2 and 6-2 on clay, so if the Spaniard continues to play at his current level, he should be coming out on top again here.
- Delbonis has lost his last 15 matches vs top 100 players
- Andujar has won seven of their nine previous meetings
- Andujar is 6-2 vs Delbonis on clay
- Andujar made the Buenos Aires quarter-finals in 2021
- Andujar made the quarter-finals of his last clay event, beating Federer along the way
- Delbonis has lost his last two R2s in Buenos Aires
