The State of Origin Game 1 match between Queensland and New South Wales features as Bettingpro.com.au’s best bet for Wednesday June 9.
Bet Of The Day June 9 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.
We aim for three straight #BOTDs as we head to the State of Origin opener between New South Wales and Queensland for today’s best bet.
NSW were stunned by Queensland in the 2020 Origin series, but we’re confident they can bounce back strongly in 2021, starting with Game 1 in Townsville tonight.
The Blues will field an extremely strong side that features five players of competition leaders the Panthers, including halves combo Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai.
Cleary in particular has been the best player in the NRL all season and would have gained tons of experience from last year’s disappointing series. We’re backing the No. 7 to have a huge series.
Queensland meanwhile have a bunch of players under injury concerns heading into this clash.
Kalyn Ponga has already been ruled out at fullback, meaning prolific winger Valentine Holmes has been forced back to fullback, while two more members of their spine – Cameron Munster and Harry Grant – haven’t played club footy for Melbourne over the last few weeks.
NSW are settled and have some genuine game breakers in their backline in addition to Cleary and Luai, including James Tedesco, Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr and Tom Trbojevic.
We think NSW will have too many points in them for Queensland and will be backing them to cover the -4.5 line.
Three of NSW’s last four wins over Queensland have covered the 4.5 line and we’re confident they can extend that trend tonight.
- Three of NSW’s last four wins over Queensland have been by 4.5 points or more
- NSW defeated Queensland by 24 points in Game 2 in 2020
- Queensland have various injury concerns surrounding their spine
