We had some success with backing Girona last week and we’re sticking with them to continue their winning run for today’s best when they play host to Alcorcon in the Spanish Segunda division.

Girona have surged into top form over the last couple of months and head into this encounter on the back of a six-match winning streak.

Incredibly, five of those wins have been to nil, with Girona tightening up their defence in a bid to lock down a playoff promotion spot.

Girona are also on a five-match winning streak at home, winning three of those matches to nil.

Currently in fifth spot on the ladder with two games remaining, another win here for Girona could solidify their playoff position depending on other results.

By contrast, Alcorcon are still battling to avoid relegation down in 17th position, with the team four points above the drop zone with two games to go.

Alcorcon have struggled in front of goal this season, with the side scoring the third fewest amount of goals in the competition – which doesn’t bode well for them breaking down a Girona defence that has leaked just one goal in their last six matches.

Girona have won nine of their last 11 games and their last six straight – at home, we like them to continue that run as they continue their late charge for promotion.

Key Points

  • Girona have won their last six matches
  • Girona have won nine of their last 11 matches
  • Girona have won five of their last six matches to nil
  • Girona have won their last five home matches
  • Alcorcon have won just four of their last 12 matches
