Bet Of The Day September 3

Andrew Hendrie:
Bet Of The Day September 3

The NRL Round 25 match between the Parramatta Eels and Penrith Panthers features as’s best bet for Friday September 3.

Bet Of The Day September 3 – read on below for our reasoning behind today’s best bet.

After an eight-point try cruelly robbed us of a sixth straight #BOTD in yesterday’s clash between the Roosters and Raiders, we’re sticking with the NRL for today’s best as the Eels and Panthers renew their rivalry ahead of the finals.

Parramatta have resigned themselves to the fact they’ll be playing sudden death football in the finals and have rested a bunch of their key players for this game as a result.

The likes of Mitchell Moses, Clint Gutherson, Nathan Brown, Isaiah Papali’i, Junior Paulo and Dylan Brown are all missing for this clash.

By contrast, the Panthers have named a full-strength line-up as they look to continue building more momentum before the finals.

As a result, Penrith are big favourites to prevail here, but we can get some value in backing them home 13+ and with under 49.5 points.

With the Eels missing their attacking stars in Moses, Gutherson and Brown, we don’t expect they will be troubling the Panthers’ defence too much.

Just take a look back a few weeks when Moses was missing and coming back from injury – the Eels failed to score more than 12 points in four matches against the Raiders, Roosters, Rabbitohs and Sea Eagles.

With Penrith having one of the best defences in the competition, they should be able to keep Parramatta’s total to a minimum.

We shouldn’t have much trouble with the Panthers eclipsing the 13+ margin considering the team the Eels are putting out.

With the last 13 meetings between the teams seeing under 46.5 points, we also give ourselves a bit of a buffer with going under 49.5.

Key Points

  • Panthers are on a four-match winning streak
  • Eels have lost three of their last four games vs top eight teams
  • Eels have lose those matches by 28 points or more
  • Eels are missing some of their best players for this game
  • Eels have been kept to 12 points or less when Moses was missing from recent games
  • The last 13 games between the teams have produced 46.5 points or less
