Big Bets Post Mortem – See how the big bets fared on the weekend

Up north at Eagle Farm it was smiles all round from punters as five favourites (in a row) and one equal favourite were successful.

Big bets of $3,200 @ $3 and $1,580 @ $3.50 were taken on the Pierro gelding.

Come race six, all eyes were on ALIGATOR BLOOD  and the David Vandyke-trained gelding won like a $1.55 chance should. One big bet of $5,000 @ $1.65 was reported. The All Too Hard gelding has firmed dramatically for the  three-year-old Magic Millions Guineas and is now into $2.50 with BetEasy for the big race.

Down south at Flemington, it was a similar picture with five favourites successful on their nine-race program.

Big bets of $4,000 @ $3.20 and $5,000 @ $3.00 were riding on the Patrick Payne-trained gelding and he gave punters no cause for alarm, going on to win comfortably in the end.

Big bets totalling $8,000 were riding on the photo result while the TAB also reported taking of $2,000 @ $3.50. The TAB also held a big bet of $16,000 each way @ $8 / $2.70 on El Dorado Dreaming who weakened to finish near the rear of the field.

That punter got on early and locked in $7 for his $3,000 wager, collecting $21,000 just in time for Christmas. A well-placed bet as it turns out with the Smart Missile gelding sent to the barriers a $5.50 chance.
