TopBetta Review

TopBetta opened for business in 2010 and haven’t looked back since - developing a unique brand offering an exceptional array of tote and fixed odds betting and the opportunity to take part in tipping tournaments.

While initially TopBetta focused on the unique tournament betting features, the focus has switched to create a betting brand that can match up to the biggest in Australia.

Background

TopBetta is an Australian betting website which was founded in 2009 and launched the following year.

Initially, TopBetta differed largely from the average bookmaker in the sense that they were a tournament-based product offering football, horse racing and rugby union tipping tournaments, in which punters use fantasy dollars to predict what will happen and bet accordingly with prizes on offer to the best tipsters.

Free to become a member of TopBetta, customers can immediately get involved in the tournaments and starting betting in the unique TopBetta platform.

More recently, fixed odds betting has been added to the TopBetta armoury and it makes for a truly unique bookmaker to bet with. The mix of tournament betting and traditional punting is proving to be an exciting mix - and one not available anywhere else.

Odds and Markets

TopBetta offer a traditional way to bet on Racing and Sports markets every day with competitive odds - even if there are not as many markets as you will find at rival bookmakers.

They offer competitive racing (horses, greyhounds and harness) and sports markets, although the number offered is small compared to other bookmakers with football, American football, rugby league, AFL and golf being the main ones.
More recently, TopBetta have offered tote and fixed odds betting on worldwide racing as well as a selection of sports including AFL, NRL and Soccer. And it the addition of these markets that has helped move the brand onto another level.

TopBetta lag behind a little when it comes to Fixed Odds betting. TopBetta do offer fixed prices, but the markets are not created for some time after their rivals.

TopBetta offers a small range of sports betting options with AFL, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, darts, golf, rugby and soccer on offer, but if you like a punt on a wider range of sports or a bigger selection of betting options per fixture, you may need to look elsewhere.

TopBetta Tournaments

TopBetta’s most significant feature are the tournaments - available on Racing and Sports - where you bet with fantasy "BettaBucks” in a bid to top the daily leaderboard. There are feature tournaments run each day with up to $200,000 in prizes available on the big Jackpot Tournaments like the "King of the Cups" on Melbourne Cup day.

The principle of tournament betting is the same as traditional betting – namely that you bet on the outcomes that you think will happen at the available odds. It is better to win at bigger odds, although it matters little as to how these prices compare to competitors as you are betting as part of a pool.

To bet into tournaments simply:

1. Create an account for FREE, Log in with your username. Then choose the racing or sports tournament you wish to play and enter.
2. Bet your BettaBucks (Fantasy Dollars) across any of the races or games and bet options in that tournament. Remember, you need to bet all your BettaBucks to qualify.
3. Check the leaderboard and work out your strategy - whether you bet again or sit tight and hold on for the win.

Some tournaments will be a Winner Takes All, while others will pay out for the Top 3 finishers. So think wisely before placing that one last bet. Do you need to make more profit? Or could losing another $500 push you out of the prizes?

Entry into each tournament costs a different figure depending on the jackpot, ranging from $1 to $1100.

Website

There is nothing flashy or groundbreaking about the TopBetta website but it does everything required of it – including making taking part in the tournaments a simply and easy thing.

Using the orange and black colours of the brand, the TopBetta website is broken down into three clear sections – Tournaments, Racing and Sports – and you will be able to navigate quickly to the destination you want to be with the minimum of fuss. In addition to the three tabs, another accompanies them with access to the Blog where you will find all the latest news and previews.

Within the Tournament tab, you will find the latest list of tipping competitions you can take part in. Racing and Sports, meanwhile, will take you to the betting odds markets for the latest events. Within each of these sections, the options are neatly displayed in a left-hand menu for sports and via a left-hand menu or scrolling bar across the top of the page for racing.

Bet placement is quick and easy via a pop up window in which pre-selected amounts are displayed as boxes along with win, each-way or place to help save time while getting your wager on. Alternatively, you can type in your bet amount into the box provided.

TopBetta App

TopBetta has developed a Mobile App which allows access to both tournaments and racing and sports betting. It is a relatively simple and easy to use app, and features up-to-the-minute betting. It is available to download from the App Store for iPhones and iPads.

Alternatively, the TopBetta website can be loaded on mobile or tablet, although it does not automatically display to the right size unlike other bookmakers.

Customer Service

The TopBetta customer services can be reached by email or telephone.
