Paul Gallen vs Mark Hunt Tips, Predictions & Preview

Former UFC Heavyweight legend Mark Hunt will fight former NRL star Paul Gallen in a boxing bout at Bankwest Stadium on Wednesday, December 16.

A six-round Heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight legend Mark and former NRL premiership captain Paul Gallen will be the co-main event ahead of Tim Tszyu vs Bowyn Morgan. Read on for Gallen vs Hunt tips, predictions and preview.

Paul Gallen vs Mark Hunt

This will be Hunt’s first professional boxing match since 2000. He also had a kickboxing career that spanned between 1999 to 2008 where his professional record stood at 30 wins and 13 losses; 13 of those wins came via KO/TKO.

Making his MMA debut in 2004, Hunt would lose his first fight before a five-fight win streak. In 2010, Hunt would make his UFC debut where he would suffer a submission loss against Sean McCorkle in 63 seconds at UFC 119. His best UFC winning streak would follow straight after that debut loss winning his next four fights, including three by knockout.

Ben Rothwell, Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve would all fall to Hunt during his four-fight win streak. The now 46-year-old would survive until the fifth round against current UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in 2015.

One of his most famous fights was against Brock Lesnar, another UFC Heavyweight champion. It was originally a unanimous decision win for Lesnar that would be overturned due to Lesnar testing positive to a prohibited substance.

Looking at the credentials of his opponent, Gallen is unbeaten in his professional boxing career with nine wins and a draw. The draw would come against former AFL star Barry Hall in his latest fight in November 2019.

Five of Gallen’s nine wins have come via KO/TKO but this will be his toughest test to date.

Gallen is best known for his 348-game NRL career, which included winning the 2016 NRL premiership with the Cronulla Sharks.

He now looks to make a name for himself in the squared circle and a victory over a tough and hard-hitting MMA fighter such as Hunt would significantly enhance his reputation.

The edge has to go with the “King of Walk-Offs,” and it will be no surprise to see Hunt get the last laugh with another knockout victory beside his name. We are predicting Hunt won’t let the fight go the distance as he hands Gallen his first professional loss.
