Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou Tips
UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic makes his sixth title defence of his UFC career and he has a 4-1 record when defending the gold; he lost the title to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 before regaining it at UFC 241. Miocic then completed the trilogy against Cormier by retaining the title at UFC 252.
This will be the second time Miocic and challenger Francis Ngannou meet in the Octagon. Back in January 2018 at UFC 220, Miocic dominated the fight against Ngannou with a clean-sweep 50-44 on all three judges’ scorecards.
Since that defeat to Miocic, Ngannou suffered another unanimous decision loss against Derrick Lewis before four-straight first-round knockouts.
Ngannou knocked out Curtis Blaydes in 45 seconds, former UFC Heavyweight champions Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos in 26 and 71 seconds respectively followed by a 20-second demolition of Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
It is hard to argue that Ngannou doesn’t deserve another crack at Miocic and UFC fans around the world are set for a blockbuster main event at UFC 260. Ngannou has been like a freight train while Miocic has proved too good for Cormier in his last two fights.
All 15 career wins by Ngannou have come via stoppage with 11 knockouts and four submission victories, including a kimura against Anthony Hamilton.
Miocic has 15 knockout wins to his name with another five coming via decision.
Despite the first bout going the full five rounds, this time around, we expect the fight to have a stoppage one way or the other. As mentioned above, both men can put their opponent down with punches. Ngannou is likely to be more cautious than previous fights where he hasn’t been in the Octagon for more than 71 seconds at a time.
Miocic has a much higher significant striking accuracy of 52% compared to Ngannou’s 37% and also lands 4.9 significant strikes per minute compared to 2.23 for Ngannou. At the end of Sunday’s main event, we are predicting Miocic to walk away with his belt.
